Let us therefore also intercede for those who are in any transgression, that meekness and humility may be given to them, so that they may yield not to us but to the will of God; for thus there will be for them a fruitful and perfect remembrance, with compassion, before God and the saints.
Let us accept discipline, at which no one ought to be vexed, beloved. The admonition which we give to one another is good and exceedingly profitable; for it joins us to the will of God.
For thus says the holy word: "The Lord has indeed chastened me, but he has not given me over to death."
"For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and he scourges every son whom he receives."
"The righteous one shall chasten me in mercy and reprove me; but let not the oil of sinners anoint my head."
And again it says: "Blessed is the man whom the Lord reproves; and do not refuse the admonition of the Almighty. For he causes pain, and again he restores;
又說:「神所責備的人是有福的;所以你不可輕看全能者的管教。因為祂打傷,又包紮;
56:7
he smites, and his hands heal.
Six times he will deliver you from distresses, and in the seventh no evil shall touch you.
In famine he will deliver you from death, and in war he will release you from the power of the sword;
在饑荒中,祂必救你脫離死亡;在爭戰中,祂必救你脫離刀劍的權勢;
56:10
and he will hide you from the scourge of the tongue, and you shall not fear the evils that come.
You shall laugh at the unjust and the lawless, and you shall not fear the wild beasts;
你必嗤笑不義和不法的人,也不懼怕野獸;
56:12
for the wild beasts shall be at peace with you.
Then you shall know that your house shall be at peace, and the abode of your tent shall not fail.
And you shall know that your seed is many, and your children like the verdure of the field.
And you shall come to the grave like ripe corn reaped in its season, or like a heap on the threshing floor gathered in due time.
See, beloved, how great is the protection for those who are disciplined by the Master; for being a good Father he disciplines us, that we may obtain mercy through his holy discipline.
