29:1
Of this homily only this small portion could be transcribed from the codices of Saint Dalmatius and of Turin. For someone, I know not by whose fault, cut out the remaining parts, having removed two leaves from those same codices. In the Dalmatian codex it is entitled: 'Likewise, homily IX on Baptism'; in the Turin codex: 'Likewise, again on the Epiphany, and homily XIV on the Baptism of Christ.' The almighty power of our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ is clearly gathered from the reading which we have just heard. For although his omnipotence, by which in the beginning of things, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, he created heaven and earth out of nothing, seemed to lie hidden in the man which he had taken up for our redemption, it was clearly made manifest to his disciples.
29:2
For when he had come to a wedding of the old custom in Cana of Galilee, and the wine suddenly failed the guests, he who had not disdained to be present at that wedding also willed to confirm that wedding by a miracle, and turned the water into wine. (Two leaves are missing in the original, then it is thus concluded:) that, freed from every defilement of this world, we may be able to attain the heavenly kingdoms, with the help of him who reigns unto the ages of ages. Amen.
