'For he who abounds in his own goods does not seek the treasures of the world; for a man's own goods—honesty, sobriety, mercy,' etc. It ends: 'my riches, as in the example of Lazarus, the bosom of Abraham and blessedness shall receive.' Each of these indicated sermons is said to be drawn from the same Paris codex 3776, but they should rather be entitled fragments, which do not deserve to be adorned with the name of Saint Maximus. Yet we exhibit them as a specimen of the insipid author, from whom some of the sermons among those described and rejected came forth.
