Psalms 84

Latin original · 13 verses · some words can be tapped for a gloss

← ch. 83ch. 85 →
📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Septuagint, Ge'ez Bible)
⚠️ Psalms use Masoretic (Hebrew) numbering, which differs from printed Vulgate and Septuagint editions: Ps 84 here = Ps 83 in print. Convert before citing a printed edition.
ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.
ℹ️ Some verses here have no matching verse in the public-domain translations (the Psalm superscriptions are not numbered verses in the CUV or the WEB). Those verses were translated by this site with AI (Claude), not taken from the WEB.

84:0
In finem, pro torcularibus filiis Core. Psalmus.
To the end, for the winepresses, for the sons of Korah. A Psalm.
84:1
Quam dilecta tabernacula tua, Domine virtutum !
How lovely are your dwellings, Yahweh of Armies!
84:2
Concupiscit, et deficit anima mea in atria Domini ; cor meum et caro mea exsultaverunt in Deum vivum.
My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
84:3
Etenim passer invenit sibi domum, et turtur nidum sibi, ubi ponat pullos suos : altaria tua, Domine virtutum, rex meus, et Deus meus.
Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Yahweh of Armies, my King, and my God.
84:4
Beati qui habitant in domo tua, Domine ; in saecula saeculorum laudabunt te.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah.
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.
84:6
in valle lacrimarum, in loco quem posuit.
Passing through the valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs. Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings.
84:7
Etenim benedictionem dabit legislator ; ibunt de virtute in virtutem : videbitur Deus deorum in Sion.
They go from strength to strength. Every one of them appears before God in Zion.
84:8
Domine Deus virtutum, exaudi orationem meam ; auribus percipe, Deus Jacob.
Yahweh, God of Armies, hear my prayer. Listen, God of Jacob. Selah.
84:9
Protector noster, aspice, Deus, et respice in faciem christi tui.
Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed.
84:10
Quia melior est dies una in atriis tuis super millia ; elegi abjectus esse in domo Dei mei magis quam habitare in tabernaculis peccatorum.
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
84:11
Quia misericordiam et veritatem diligit Deus : gratiam et gloriam dabit Dominus.
For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.
Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
