112:1
That your Gentleness has arrived at Rome, and the petition presented by the most reverend patriarch Leo, has been signified to us by your Majesty in the very text of your letters. And for your safe return to the city of Rome we render fitting thanks to the divine Majesty, most holy lord son and venerable emperor. But concerning those things which the aforesaid most reverend man has said, it has been more amply and more fully indicated to him, as we have judged fit, and he has learned that we have in no part swerved from the ancestral religion and the tradition of our forefathers.
112:2
For we desire nothing else than that the ancestral sacraments handed down to us by succession be inviolably preserved. For this cause, therefore, since we have learned that certain persons were disturbing the most holy Churches with harmful novelty, we decreed that a synod should be held at Ephesus. In the presence indeed of the most reverend bishops, with much freedom and with entire truth, both those unworthy of the priesthood were removed, and those who were judged worthy were received. Nothing therefore have we found to have been done by these contrary to the rule of faith or of justice. Every contention therefore has been examined by sacred judgment. But Flavian, who was found guilty of injurious novelty, has received his due.
112:3
And this being removed, all peace and all concord reigns in the Churches, and nothing else flourishes but the truth.
