121:1
De studio et oratione nostra sanctitas tua non dubitat: quoniam veram Christianorum religionem et apostolicam fidem firmam volumus permanere, et ab omni populo pia mente servari. Denique securitatem nostræ potentiae ex recta religione et propiliation8 Salvatoris nostri consistere non ambigimus. Quapropter reverendissimos viros quos ad nostram pietatem sanctitas tua direxit libenter et sicut decebat animo grato suscepimus. Superest ut si placuerit tuae beatitudini in has partes advenire et synodum celebrare, hoc facere religionis affectu dignetur:
你的聖德對於我們的熱忱與祈禱並不懷疑：因為我們願基督徒的真宗教與使徒的信仰堅固長存，並為萬民以虔敬的心所持守。總之，我們毫不懷疑：我們政權的穩固在於正確的宗教與我們救主的息怒。因此，你的聖德差往我們虔敬這裡的那些至可敬之人，我們已樂意地、如所當然地以感激之心接納。所餘的是：倘若你的至福樂意親臨這些地方並召開會議，願你出於對宗教的愛而屈尊行此：
Your holiness does not doubt concerning our zeal and prayer: since we wish the true religion of the Christians and the apostolic faith to remain firm, and to be preserved with a pious mind by every people. Finally, we do not doubt that the security of our power consists in right religion and in the propitiation of our Savior. Wherefore we have gladly and, as was fitting, with a grateful mind received the most reverend men whom your holiness directed to our piety. It remains that, if it please your blessedness to come into these parts and to celebrate a synod, you may deign to do this out of affection for religion:

nostris utique desideriis vestra sanctitas satisfaciet, et sacræ religioni quae utilia sunt decernet.8i vero hoc onerosum est ut tu ad has partes advenias, hoc ipsum nobis propriis litteris tua sanctitas manifestet, quatenus in omnem Orientem et in ipsam Thraciam et Illyricum sacrae nostrae litterae dirigantur, ut ad quemdam definitum locum, ubi nobis placuerit,omnes sanctissimi episcopi debeant convenire, et quae Christianorum religioni atque catholicae fidei prosint, sicut sanctitas tua secundum ecclesiasticas regulas definivit, sua dispositione declarent.
你的聖德必定會滿足我們的願望，並裁定那有益於神聖宗教之事。但倘若你來到這些地方是件重擔，願你的聖德以你親筆的信把此事本身告知我們，好使我們神聖的詔書得以發往整個東方、以及色雷斯本身與伊利里孔，使眾至聖的主教應在某一指定之處——就是我們所樂意之地——聚集，並藉他們的安排宣告那有益於基督徒宗教與公教信仰之事，正如你的聖德依教會的規章所已界定的。
your holiness will assuredly satisfy our desires, and will decree those things which are useful for the sacred religion. But if it be burdensome that you should come to these parts, let your holiness make this very thing known to us by your own letters, so that our sacred letters may be directed into all the East, and into Thrace itself and Illyricum, that at a certain appointed place, where it shall have pleased us, all the most holy bishops ought to convene, and by their disposition may declare those things which are of profit to the religion of the Christians and to the catholic faith, as your holiness has defined according to the ecclesiastical rules.
