180:1
With what obstinacy Hilary, bishop of Arles, has evaded our judgment, your holy brotherhood is not unaware. Hence we also see it to be just that, because the bishop of Arles did not await the great moderation in judgments which the prince of the apostles always displays in his power through his vicars, he, being removed from the privilege of his city, may learn in a humble place that which he was unwilling to hold when granted in the great free gift of our predecessors. And let the privilege be restored to the archbishop of Vienne, together with the ancient right which the apostolic kindness had in part transferred to the city of Arles, so that Hilary, restrained by such severity, may learn not rashly to transgress the ancient boundaries founded by canonical enactment.
