Quia posueram de Evangelio: Data est mihi omnis potestas in cælo et in terra (Matth. XXVIII, 18), ut potestatem.illam, quam sibi dicebat datam, semper in natura divinitatis suae salvam fuisse monstrarem, commemoravi apostolicum illud quod de Filio dictum est: Cum tradiderit regnum Deo Patri (I Cor. xv, 24), cum utique Pater nullo tempore sine regno esse potuerit: nec ideo Patrem, qui potestatem Filio dedit essc majorem, cum cL tpse Filius regnum Patri traditurus esse dicatur. Ubi enim quis beneficio aliquid confert, jure censetur major accipiente qui donat. In divinitatem autem, ex qua quod ineffabiliter lilio datur non est gratia, sed natura, restat dantis et accipientis æqualitas.
因為我曾引用福音書的話：天上地下所有的權柄都賜給我了（馬太福音二十八18），為要顯明祂所說賜給祂的那權柄，在祂神性的本性中始終完好無損，我便提起使徒論到子所說的那句話：等祂將國交與父神的時候（哥林多前書十五24）——因父無論何時都不可能沒有國度：父既將權柄賜給子，卻不因此更大，因子也被說到要將國交與父。凡以恩惠賜與人的，那賜與者按理算為比領受者大。但在神性之中，那不可言喻地賜給子的並非恩典，乃是本性，因此賜者與受者仍是同等。
Because I had cited from the Gospel: All power is given to me in heaven and on earth (Matt. 28:18), in order to show that this power, which He said was given to Him, was always intact in the nature of His divinity, I called to mind that apostolic saying which was spoken of the Son: When He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God the Father (1 Cor. 15:24) — since indeed the Father could at no time be without a kingdom: nor is the Father, who gave power to the Son, therefore greater, since the Son too is said to be about to deliver up the kingdom to the Father. For where one confers something as a favor, the giver is rightly reckoned greater than the receiver. But in the Godhead, from which what is ineffably given to the Son is not grace but nature, there remains the equality of the giver and the receiver.
