Post sancta dominicae Nativitatis officia quibus ægerrimus et vere plus quam fessus interfui, quod mihi post Deum primum ac singulare est, nuntium vestrum exspecto; quem si meruero sumere, quaecunque illa qua dignus sum fuit, ut ego confido temperabitur, ut vos meremini delergelur asperilas.

After the holy offices of the Lord's Nativity, at which I took part most sickly and truly more than wearied, I await your message—which is to me, after God, the first and singular thing; and if I shall be worthy to receive it, whatever harshness was there, of which I am deserving, will—as I trust—be tempered, and, as you deserve, be wiped clean away.
