Si ut dignamini credere loqui possem, importune tum obstreperet Græcis auribus sermo Latinus. At cum in lingua nostra hoc magis abiturum sit intelligibile, quod minus fueril expolitum; in litteris quas per conservum meum offerri præcepistis, possunt et vitia cum securitate dictari. Ipsi certe quid velimus dicere quocunque scrutentur interpretc, ego in affatu consueto dignatione pius, si dici potest, quam piissimi domni experimento interpretante cognovi. De reliquo, Christus vobis pro perseverantia gratiae quam peculiaribus servis servatis, vicem rependat.
倘若我能如你所樂意相信的那樣言說，拉丁的語言便會不合時宜地刺耳於希臘人的聽覺。但既然在我們的語言中，越是不加雕琢的越易被理解，那麼在你吩咐藉我同工奉上的書信裡，即便瑕疵也可安然口授。誠然，無論他們用哪位傳譯來細察我們所欲言之事，我在慣常的稱謂中，藉那至虔誠之主的傳譯憑證——若可如此說——已認出那屈尊俯就的虔敬。至於其餘，願基督為你向你特別的僕人所持守之恩典的恆忍，加以回報。
If I could speak as you deign to believe, Latin speech would inopportunely grate upon Greek ears. But since in our tongue that will be the more intelligible which shall have been the less polished, in the letters which you have ordered to be offered through my fellow servant, even faults may be dictated with security. Certainly they themselves, by whatever interpreter they may scrutinize what we wish to say, I have come to know in the accustomed address, pious in condescension — if it may be said, by the interpreting proof of a most pious lord. For the rest, may Christ repay you in turn for the perseverance of grace which you preserve toward your special servants.

Quod etiam in hoc ipso adolescente quem dirigitis tale monstratur, dum cogitantes in neutro quidem commodum, sed in utroque mercedem, quasi vobis nutristis filium, et quasi patri reddilis nutritum.
這事在你所遣送的這位少年身上，也顯明是如此：因為你們在兩方面都不看重利益、卻都看重賞報，就彷彿為自己養育了一個兒子，又彷彿把一個受養育者歸還給他的父親。
This too is shown to be such in this very youth whom you send: since, considering in neither case an advantage, but in both a reward, you have as it were nourished a son for yourselves, and as it were return a foster-child to his father.
