Præparare in occursum Dei tui Israel (Amos. IV, 12 ). Dicit quidem Paulus apostolus, ubi Redemptoris ( I Thess. IV, 15 ) describit adventum, qualiter rapicmur ad nuhcs obviam Christo in aera. Hic limen puto occursum istum ad alium pertinere. Nam et hic viventes quasi occurrimus Dco, si praeceptum quod porrigitur amplectimur: cl quia paratus est ille ad ignoscendum, occurrat ei correctio ad pœnitendum. Sed ct quicumque propter amorem æternæ vitæ, non solum ab illicitis abstinet, verum etiam a licitis se cecrcet, sponte occurrissc judicandus est. Nam, nt exempli gratia unum quodcunque dicamus, adulterio generaliter interdicto, simplex conjugium lege permittitur;

«Prepare to meet your God, O Israel» (Amos 4:12). Paul the Apostle indeed says, where he describes the coming of the Redeemer (1 Thess. 4:15-17), how «we shall be caught up to the clouds to meet Christ in the air.» Here I think that meeting pertains to another one on the threshold. For here too, while living, we as it were meet God, if we embrace the precept that is held out to us; and because He is ready to pardon, let correction unto repentance meet Him. But also whoever, for the love of eternal life, not only abstains from unlawful things but even restrains himself from lawful ones, is to be judged to have met Him willingly. For, to take any one instance by way of example, when adultery is generally forbidden, simple marriage is permitted by law;

cui tamen virginitatis nitor sino comparatione præfertur: unde qui dat nuptum virginem suam bene facit, ct qui non dat melius facit ( I Cor. vn, 36 ). Hoc ergo de omni debemus observatione sentire. Qui male facit, fugit; qui bene, exspectat; qui melius, occurrit.
然而童貞的光彩卻是遠超無可比擬地被推崇於婚姻之上：故此「那把自己童女的女兒嫁出去的固然好，那不嫁出去的更好」（林前七38）。因此，我們對每一種持守都當如此體會：行惡的，逃避；行善的，等候；行更善的，前去迎見祂。
yet to it the splendor of virginity is preferred beyond all comparison: whence «he who gives his virgin in marriage does well, and he who gives her not does better» (1 Cor. 7:38). This, then, we ought to feel concerning every observance. He who does ill, flees; he who does well, waits; he who does better, goes to meet Him.
