Your piety has done an anxious thing, both by extending your solicitude concerning us, and by believing in ours concerning you. For in truth, when we received the news of your departure, we weighed it with trembling in the utmost fear: because we were told by various reports that you had all alike been summoned together at the calling of the lords whom you serve. Hence the consciousness of my sins wrought this: that the fewer remained to me, the more I understood was to be feared by those remaining. But thanks be to God, who by a prosperous return called your people back into joy, and you back into your homeland. May Christ preserve, for what remains, this liberty for our common desires, so that it may be possible both for us to console ourselves in your absence, and to attain to your presence.
