Nos magis instruunt isti prophetæ, et infirmitatem nostram quasi sub suae impatientiæ sermonibus consolantur. Illorum porro patientiam testantur multiplices in infirmitate virtutes. Quorum ut vel paucis simos, propter istum qui dolet justum ab impio devorari, exempli gratia proferamus, probat hoc de Jeremia gloriosior in captivitate libertas, neque pcr ligamen corporis licentia vincta sermonis. Probat Esaias, quem ob præconium veritatis, divaricante serra obtusis dentibus, doloribus acutis, sacvicns civicus furor, quantum ad poenam mortaliter torsit. tantum ad gloriam vitaliter occidit. Cumque victore defunoto, victus superstes doleret, per laniatam car.

These prophets rather instruct us, and console our weakness by, as it were, the words of their own impatience. Moreover, their manifold virtues in weakness bear witness to their patience. That we may set forth even a few of these, for the sake of him who grieves that the just man is devoured by the impious, let us bring forward some examples. This is proved concerning Jeremiah by a liberty more glorious in captivity, and by a license of speech not bound through the fettering of the body. It is proved by Isaiah, whom, for the proclamation of the truth, the raging fury of the citizens, with a saw sundering him, with blunted teeth, with sharp pains, tortured mortally as to punishment as much as it slew him vitally unto glory.
