In affectu quarumcunque rerum non facta, sed vota cogitanda sunt; et abominabiU eo qui invitus profuerit bonis, Deo magis gratia referenda est, qua promptissime pius bene utitur malis, Nam licet Joseph nostrum sola peregrinatio fecerit principem, non tamen laudat pietas venditorem. Sanctus autem Paulus apostolus (Rom. IX, 3), simpliciter contentus a Christo anathema esse pro fratribus, praeter labores proprios, etiam pro fratribus quos lucratus fuerat, Coronatur; Judas econtra, quia non fratrum dilectione persequens Christum, anathema est fectus a Christo.
In the disposition toward things of any kind, not deeds but wishes are to be considered; and, that abominable one who has profited the good unwillingly being set aside, thanks are rather to be rendered to God, who most readily and piously makes good use of evils. For although mere exile made our Joseph a prince, yet piety does not praise the seller. But the holy Apostle Paul (Rom. IX, 3), being simply content to be anathema from Christ for his brethren, besides his own labours, is crowned even for the brethren whom he had gained; Judas, on the contrary, because persecuting Christ not out of love for the brethren, was made anathema from Christ.
在對任何事物的意向中，當考量的不是行為，而是心願；且那不情願卻使良善之人得益的可憎者既被撇下，感謝就更當歸於神，祂極其樂意而虔誠地善用諸惡。因為約瑟固然單憑流亡便被立為宰相，然而虔敬並不稱讚那賣他的人。而聖使徒保羅（羅馬書九章3節），單純甘願為他弟兄的緣故被咒詛與基督分離，除了他自己的勞苦之外，甚至因他所贏得的弟兄而得冠冕；反之，猶大則因逼迫基督並非出於對弟兄的愛，便被咒詛與基督隔絕。
