116:1
An nescitis quia templum Dei estis, et Spiritus Det habitat in vobis (/ Lor. III, 16)? Unde inquit, Membra vestra templum in vobis est Spiritus sancti, quem habetis a Deo (/ Cor. VI, 19).
Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you (1 Cor. 3:16)? Behold then, the Spirit also is God, if He dwells in the temple which none but God inhabits. Whence he says, Your members are within you a temple of the Holy Spirit, whom you have from God (1 Cor. 6:19). Therefore if you have God from God, and are the temple of God, and your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; wherever the Spirit has not been received, God is not received. Therefore when we say such things, let not those be angry with us to whom we are trying to commend the Holy Spirit:
VIII, 36), ubi tamen SDiritus Domini ibi libertas (II Cor. III, 17).
for unless He is believed to be God, I do not know what can be said of the present feast, or what honor the heretic pays at His coming — whom, so far as in him lies, he even abases with the name of servitude: although 'if the Son shall make you free, then you shall be free indeed' (John 8:36), yet 'where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty' (2 Cor. 3:17).
