Videamus comparatam Moysi et multo præcellentem, eam quæ nostri est gratiam redemptoris. Nam ut nova paululum veteribus conferamus, ille ad hunc populum venit velata facie, iste operta divinitate, ille sublimitate cornutus, iste humilitate mansuetus; illius vultus radiis et decore luminosus, istius sputis et caede fœdandus: illius humanam faciem conservus videre non meroit, istius divinam leprosus aspexit.
Let us behold the grace of our Redeemer, compared with that of Moses and far surpassing it. For, to compare the new for a little with the old: the former came to this people with veiled face, the latter with hidden divinity; the former horned with sublimity, the latter meek with humility; the former's countenance shining with rays and splendor, the latter's to be defiled with spittle and slaughter: the former's human face a fellow servant did not deserve to see, but a leper gazed upon the latter's divine face.
讓我們來看我們救贖主的恩典，將它與摩西的相比，實在遠遠超越。為要略將新的與舊的相較：那一位臉蒙帕子來到這百姓面前，這一位卻隱藏著神性而來；那一位以崇高為角光四射，這一位卻以謙卑為溫柔；那一位的臉因光芒與華美而發光，這一位的臉卻要被唾沫與殺戮所玷污：那一位屬人的臉，同作僕人的尚且不配看見，這一位屬神的臉，長大痲瘋的卻得以瞻仰。
