Cogitans atque pertractans, inofficiositatem vestraro qua ultione percellerem, nil dignius judicavi, quam si declinata injuria nihil segnius intenlarem. Ne quam igitur in posterum vereamini, qui cernitis praesentem noxam protinus expiari.
Thinking and pondering with what vengeance I might strike your discourtesy, I judged nothing more worthy than that, the injury being turned aside, I should aim at nothing more sluggishly in return. Fear not, then, any vengeance in the future, you who see the present offense straightway expiated.
我思量再三，該用甚麼報復來痛擊您的失禮，卻判斷沒有比這更相稱的了：就是把這侵犯撇在一旁，而在回應上絲毫不比您遲緩懈怠。所以，您既看見眼前的冒犯立刻得了補贖，就不必懼怕日後有甚麼報復。
