Cum ad officium vestræ magnitudini deferendum perpetua semper causa suppetat caritatis, et specialem devotionis observaniiam jure debeam obnixae impensius pietati: nunc tamen desideratam mihi necessitatem ratio festivitatis indixit, ut affectui vestro vel litterarum praesentarer officio, qui cuperem et occursu. Idcirco reverentia supplicans debita, quam ex volo festa celebraveritis inquiro, Redemptoris nostri inexhaustam derrecans largitatern, ut usque ad aetatem centenariam sua protectione vos provehat, et ad ornatum nostrum, sicut hactenus fecit, bonis omnibus remuneratos attollat.
Although a perpetual cause of charity ever supplies occasion for rendering the office of service to your Greatness, and I rightly owe a special observance of devotion to your earnest piety: yet now the occasion of the festival has enjoined upon me a longed-for necessity, that I should present myself to your affection at least by the service of a letter—I who would wish to do so also by meeting you. Therefore, entreating with due reverence, I ask whether you have celebrated the feast according to your vow, imploring the inexhaustible bounty of our Redeemer, that He may advance you by His protection even to a hundredth year, and, as He has done hitherto, exalt you for our adornment, rewarded with all good things.
雖然為向您之尊偉獻上事奉之敬禮，慈愛之因常永不匱乏，且我理當向您懇切的虔敬更殷勤地獻上特殊的敬拜之守持：然而如今節慶之緣由，向我加諸了一項我所渴望的必要，使我至少藉書信之敬禮呈現於您的情意之前——我本亦願藉親身相會為之。故我以應盡之敬畏懇求，探問您是否已如願舉行了節慶，並祈求我等救贖主無窮的慷慨，願祂以其護佑帶領您直至百歲之齡，並如祂迄今所行，以一切美善之物酬報、擢升您，作我等之榮飾。
