150:1
That cross, upon which life hung while death perished—as the Evangelist John narrates in the Passion (John 19:20)—because it could not contain the manifold, was a page of threefold tongue: so that it might be believed without hesitation by the whole world, since what was written in Hebrew, and also in Latin and Greek letters, was, as it were, confirmed in the mouth of three witnesses; and thereupon «every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus is in the glory of God the Father» (Phil. 2:11), that is, in one glory with the Father. And though the intent of some persists in denying this, even if not the speech of all, yet assuredly every tongue proclaims it.
