1-27:27
Ἡμεῖς δέ ἵνα μηδὲν ἀδικῶμεν μηδὲ ἀσεβῶμεν, ἐκτιθέναι καὶ τὰ γεννώμενα πονηρῶν εἶναι δεδιδάγμεθα· πρῶτον μέν, ὅτι τοὺς πάντας σχεδὸν ὁρῶμεν ἐπὶ πορνείᾳ προάγοντας, οὖ μόνον τὰς κόρας ἀλλὰ καὶ τοὺς ἄρσενας, καὶ ὃν τρόπον λέγονται οἱ παλαιοὶ ἀγέλας βοῶν ἢ αἰγῶν ἢ προβάτων τρέφειν ἢ ἵππων φορβάδων, οὕτως νῦν καὶ παῖδας εἰς τὸ αἰσχρῶς χρῆσθαι μόνον· καὶ ὁμοίως θηλειῶν καὶ ἀνδρογύνων καὶ ἀῤῥητοποιῶν πλῆθος κατὰ πᾶν ἔθνος ἐπὶ τούτου τοῦ ἄγους ἕστηκε. Καὶ τούτων μισθοὺς καὶ εἰσφορὰς καὶ τέλη λαμβάνετε δέον ἐκκόψαι ἀπὸ τῆς ὑμετέρας οἰκουμένης. Καὶ τῶν τούτοις χρωμένων τις πρὸς τῇ ἀθέῳ καὶ ἀσεβεῖ καὶ ἀκρατεῖ μίξει, εἰ τύχοι, τέκνῳ ἢ συγγενεῖ ἢ ἀδελφῷ μίγνυται. Οἱ δὲ καὶ τὰ ἑαυτῶν τέκνα καὶ τὰς ὁμοζύγους προαγωγεύονται, καὶ φανερῶς εἰς κιναιδίαν ἀποκόπτονταί τινες καὶ εἰς μητέρα θεῶν τὰ μυστήρια ἀναφέρουσι, καὶ παρὰ παντὶ τῶν νομιζομένων παρ ὑμῖν θεῶν ὄφις σύμβολον μέγα καὶ μυστήριον ἀναγράφεται. Καὶ τὰ φανερῶς ὑμῖν πραττόμενα καὶ τιμώμενα ὡς ἀνατετραμμένου καὶ οὐ παρόντος φωτὸς θείου ἡμῖν προσγράφετε· ὅπερ ἀπηλλαγμένοις ἡμῖν τοῦ πράττειν τι τούτων οὐ βλάβην φέρει, ἀλλὰ τοῖς πράττουσι καὶ ψευδομαρτυροῦσι μᾶλλον
But we, that we may do no wrong and commit no impiety, have been taught that to expose newborn children is the act of wicked men; first, because we see that nearly all who are so exposed are brought up to prostitution—not the girls only but also the boys; and just as the ancients are said to have reared herds of oxen or goats or sheep, or horses for breeding, so now men rear children only for shameful use; and likewise a multitude of women and androgynes and those who do unspeakable things stands ready, throughout every nation, for this pollution. And you receive the wages and the dues and the taxes of these, when you ought rather to root them out from your empire. And some of those who use them, in addition to the godless and impious and intemperate intercourse, may, as it happens, have union with a child or a kinsman or a brother. And some prostitute their own children and wives, and some are openly mutilated for unnatural lust and refer the mysteries to the Mother of the gods; and beside every one of those reckoned among you as gods a serpent is depicted as a great symbol and mystery. And the things openly done and honored among you, you charge against us, as though the divine light were overthrown and absent; which, since we are free from doing any of these things, brings no harm to us, but rather to those who do them and bear false witness.
至於我們，為要不行不義、不犯不敬虔的事，所受的教導是：丟棄新生的嬰孩乃是惡人的行徑；首先，因為我們看見，幾乎所有被這樣丟棄的，都被養大去作賣淫之用——不單女孩，連男孩也是；正如古人據說飼養成群的牛、羊、山羊，或繁殖用的馬，如今人飼養孩童也只為著羞恥的用途；照樣，遍佈各國，都有一群婦女、陰陽人，並那些行不可言之事的人，預備好作這污穢的勾當。你們竟收取這些人的工價、捐稅與規費，其實你們倒應當把這些從你們的版圖中根除。在使用這些人的人中，有的除了那無神、不敬虔、放縱的性交之外，或許恰巧還與自己的兒女、親屬或弟兄交合。又有些人把自己的兒女與配偶拉去賣淫，並有些人公然為著反常的淫慾而自閹，又把這些祕儀歸給諸神之母；在你們所視為神的每一位旁邊，都繪有一條蛇，作為重大的象徵與奧祕。你們公然所行、所尊崇的事，竟反加在我們身上，彷彿那神聖的光已被傾覆、不復存在；其實，我們既然絲毫不行這些事，這對我們並無損害，倒是給那些行這些事、又作假見證的人帶來損害。
