3-80:1

Καὶ ὁ Τρύφων πρὸς ταῦτα ἔφη· Εἶπον πρός σε, ὦ ἄνθρωπε, ὅτι ἀσφαλὴς ἐν πᾶσι σπουδάζεις εἶναι ταῖς γραφαῖς προσπλεκόμενος. Εἰπὲ δέ μοι. ἀληθῶς ὑμεῖς ἀνοικοδομηθῆναι τὸν τόπον Ἱερουσαλὴμ τοῦτον ὁμολογεῖτε, καὶ συναχθήσεσθαι τὸν λαὸν ὑμῶν καὶ εὐφρανθῆναι σὺν τῷ Χριστῷ, ἅμα τοῖς πατριάρχαις καὶ τοῖς προφήταις καὶ τοῖς ἁγίοις τοῦ ἡμετέρου γένους ἢ καὶ τῶν προσηλύτων γενομένων πρὶν ἐλθεῖν ὑμῶν τὸν Χριστόν, προσδοκᾶτε, ἤ, ἵνα δόξῃς περικρατεῖν ἡμῶν ἐν ταῖς ζητήσεσι, πρὸς τὸ ταῦτα ὁμολογεῖν ἐχώρησας

And Trypho said in reply to these things: "I have told you, O man, that you are zealous to be secure in all things, keeping close to the Scriptures. But tell me—do you truly confess that this place, Jerusalem, will be rebuilt, and do you expect that your people will be gathered together and rejoice with the Christ, together with the patriarchs and the prophets and the saints of our nation, or also of those who became proselytes before your Christ came? Or have you proceeded to confess these things so that you might seem to get the better of us in our inquiries?"

特來弗就此回答說：「人哪，我已對你說過，你熱心要在凡事上立得穩當，緊緊依附聖經。但告訴我：你真的承認耶路撒冷這地方要重建，並且指望你們的百姓要被聚集起來，與基督一同歡喜，連同列祖、眾先知，以及我們民族中的聖徒，或者那些在你們的基督降臨以前歸化的人嗎？還是說，你為要在辯論中顯得勝過我們，才這樣去承認這些事呢？」

Κἀγὼ εἶπον· Οὐχ οὕτω τάλας ἐγώ, ὦ Τρύφων, ὡς ἕτερα λέγειν παρἃ φρονῶ. Ὡμολόγησα οὖν σοι καὶ πρότερον ὅτι ἐγὼ μὲν καὶ ἄλλοι πολλοὶ ταῦτα φρονοῦμεν, ὡς καὶ πάντως ἐπίστασθαι τοῦτο γενησόμενον· πολλοὺςδ αὖ καὶ τῶν τῆς καθαρᾶς καὶ εὐσεβοῦς ὄντων Χριστιανῶν γνώμης τοῦτο μὴ γνωρίζειν ἐσήμανά σοι

And I said: "I am not so wretched, O Trypho, as to say other things than what I think. I confessed to you also before that I and many others are of this mind, so that we know without doubt that this will come to pass; but I also indicated to you that many who are of the pure and pious Christian opinion do not acknowledge this."

我說：「特來弗啊，我並不至於這樣卑劣，竟說出與我所想不同的話。我先前也向你承認過，我和許多人都持這樣的看法，以致我們確知這事必要成就；但我也向你指明，有許多持純正敬虔基督徒見解的人，並不承認這事。」

Τοὺς γὰρ λεγομένους μὲν Χριστιανούς, ὄντας δὲ ἀθέους καὶ ἀσεβεῖς αἱρεσιώτας, ὅτι κατὰ πάντα βλάσφημα καὶ ἄθεα καὶ ἀνόητα διδάσκουσιν, ἐδήλωσά σοι. Ὅτιδ οὐκ ἐφ ὑμῶν μόνων τοῦτο λέγειν με ἐπίστασθε, τῶν γεγενημένων ἡμῖν λόγων ἁπάντων, ὡς δύναμίς μου, σύνταξιν ποιήσομαι, ἐν οἷς καὶ τοῦτο ὁμολογοῦντά με, ὃ καὶ πρὸς ὑμᾶς ὁμολογῶ, ἐγγράψω. Οὐ γὰρ ἀνθρώποις μᾶλλον ἢ ἀνθρωπίνοις διδάγμασιν αἱροῦμαι ἀκολουθεῖν, ἀλλὰ θεῷ καὶ τοῖς παρ ἐκείνου διδάγμασιν

"For I have shown you that those who are called Christians, but are in reality godless and impious heretics, teach in all respects things blasphemous and godless and senseless. And that you may know that I do not say this only in your presence, I will, as far as I am able, make a composition of all the discourses that have passed between us, in which I will also write down that I confess this very thing which I confess to you. For I choose to follow not men nor the teachings of men, but God and the teachings that come from Him."

「因為我已向你指明，那些被稱為基督徒、實際上卻是無神又不敬虔的異端分子，在凡事上所教導的都是褻瀆、無神又愚妄的。為叫你們知道我說這話並非只在你們面前，我要盡我所能，把我們之間所進行的一切討論編纂成書，在其中也要寫下我承認這件事，正如我向你們所承認的。因為我寧願跟從神和出於祂的教訓，而不跟從人或人的教導。」

Εἰ γὰρ καὶ συνεβάλετε ὑμεῖς τισι λεγομένοις Χριστιανοῖς. καὶ τοῦτο μὴ ὁμολογοῦσιν, ἀλλὰ καὶ βλασφημεῖν τολμῶσι τὸν θεὸν Ἀβραὰμ καὶ τὸν θεὸν Ἰσαὰκ καὶ τὸν θεὸν Ἰακώβ. οἳ καὶ λέγουσι μὴ εἶναι νεκρῶν ἀνάστασιν, ἀλλὰ ἅμα τῷ ἀποθνήσκειν τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτῶν ἀναλαμβάνεσθαι εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν, μὴ ὑπολάβητε αὐτοὺς Χριστιανούς, ὥσπερ οὐδὲ Ἰουδαίους, ἄν τις ὀρθῶς ἐξετάσῃ, ὁμολογήσειεν εἶναι τοὺς Σαδδουκαίους ἢ τὰς ὁμοίας αἱρέσεις Γενιστῶν καὶ Μεριστῶν καὶ Γαλιλαίων καὶ Ἑλληνιανῶν καὶ Φαρισαίων καὶ Βαπτιστῶν (καὶ μὴ ἀηδῶς ἀκούσητέ μου πάνταἃ φρονῶ λέγοντος), ἀλλὰ λεγομένους μὲν Ἰουδαίους καὶ τέκνα Ἀβραάμ, καὶ χείλεσιν ὁμολογοῦντας τὸν θεόν, ὡς αὐτὸς κέκραγεν ὁ θεός, τὴν δὲ καρδίαν πόρρω ἔχειν ἀπ αὐτοῦ

"For even if you have met with some who are called Christians, but who do not confess this, and even dare to blaspheme the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—who also say there is no resurrection of the dead, but that as soon as they die their souls are taken up into heaven—do not suppose them to be Christians; just as one would not, if he rightly examined the matter, acknowledge the Sadducees, or the similar sects of the Genistae and Meristae and Galilaeans and Hellenians and Pharisees and Baptists, to be Jews (and do not hear me with displeasure when I say all that I think), but rather to be called Jews and children of Abraham, and confessing God with their lips, as God Himself has cried out, while keeping their heart far from Him."

Ἐγὼ δέ, καὶ εἴ τινές εἰσιν ὁρθογνώμονες κατὰ πάντα Χριστιανοί, καὶ σαρκὸς ἀνάστασιν γενήσεσθαι ἐπιστάμεθα καὶ χίλια ἔτη ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ οἰκοδομηθείσῃ καὶ κοσμηθείσῃ καὶ πλατυνθείσῃ. ὡς οἱ προφῆται Ἰεζεκιὴλ καὶ Ήσαΐας καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι ὁμολογοῦσιν

"But I, and any who are right-minded Christians in all respects, know both that there will be a resurrection of the flesh, and a thousand years in a Jerusalem built up and adorned and enlarged, as the prophets Ezekiel and Isaiah and the others confess."
