3-45:1

Καὶ ὁ Τρύφων· Εἰ καὶ ἐγκόπτειν δοκῶ τοῖς λόγοις τούτοις οἷς λέγεις ἀναγκαίοις οὖσιν ἐξετασθῆναι, ἀλλ οὖν κατεπείγοντος τοῦ ἐπερωτήματος, ὃ ἐξετάσαι βούλομαι, ἀνάσχου μου πρῶτον. Κἀγώ. Ὅσα βούλει ἐξέταζε, ὥς σοι ἐπέρχεται· ἐγὼ γὰρ καὶ μετὰ τὰς ἐξετάσεις καὶ ἀποκρίσεις τοὺς λόγους ἀναλαμβάνειν πειράσομαι καὶ πληροῦν

And Trypho said: "Even if I seem to interrupt these words which you say are necessary to be examined, yet, since the question which I wish to examine presses, bear with me first." And I said: "Examine whatever you wish, as it occurs to you; for after the inquiries and answers I will try to take up the argument again and complete it."

特來弗說：「我雖然似乎打斷了你所說、你認為必須加以審查的這些話，但既然我想要查問的問題十分急切，請你先容讓我。」我說：「你隨意查問，想到什麼就問什麼；因為在問答之後，我會試著再拾起這論題並把它講完。」

Κἀκεῖνος· Εἰπὲ οὖν μοι, ἔφη· Οἱ ζήσαντες κατὰ τὸν νόμον τὸν δια ταχθέντα διὰ Μωσέως ζήσονται ὁμοίως τῷ Ἰακὼβ καὶ τῷ Ἐνὼγ καὶ τῷ Νῶε ἐν τῇ τῶν νεκρῶν ἀναστάσει ἢ οὔ

And he said: "Tell me, then—those who lived according to the law ordained through Moses, will they live likewise with Jacob and Enoch and Noah in the resurrection of the dead, or not?"

他說：「那麼請告訴我，那些照著藉摩西所頒布的律法而生活的人，在死人復活的時候，是否要與雅各、以諾和挪亞一同得生命，還是不會呢？」

Κἀγὼ πρὸς αὐτόν· Εἰπόντος μου, ὦ ἄνθρωπε, τὰ λελεγμένα ὑπὸ τοῦ Ἰεζεκιήλ, ὅτι Κἂν Νῶε καὶ Δανιὴλ καὶ Ἰακὼβ ἐξαιτήσωνται υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας, οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτοῖς, ἀλλ ἕκαστος τῇ αὐτοῦ δικαιοσύνῃ δηλονότι σωθήσεται, ὅτι καὶ τοὺς κατὰ τὸν νόμον τὸν Μωσέως πολιτευσαμένους ὁμοίως σωθήσεσθαι εἶπον. Καὶ γὰρ ἐν τῷ Μωσέως νόμῳ τὰ φύσει καλὰ καὶ εὐσεβῆ καὶ δίκαια νενομοθέτηται πράττειν τοὺς πειθομένους αὐτοῖς, καὶ πρὸς σκληροκαρδίαν δὲ τοῦ λαοῦ διαταχθέντα γίνεσθαι ὁμοίως ἀναγέγραπται,ἃ καὶ ἔπραττον οἱ ὑπὸ τὸν νόμον

And I said to him: "When I said, O man, the words spoken by Ezekiel—that 'Even if Noah and Daniel and Jacob should ask for sons and daughters, it shall not be given to them, but each shall manifestly be saved by his own righteousness'—I meant that those too who conducted their lives according to the law of Moses would likewise be saved. For in the law of Moses the things that are naturally good and pious and just were prescribed for those who obey them to practice; and the things ordained to be done with reference to the hardness of heart of the people are likewise recorded, which those under the law also practiced."

我對他說：「人哪，我引述以西結所說的話——『縱然有挪亞、但以理和雅各為他們的兒女祈求，也必不蒙應允，乃是各人顯然要因自己的義得救』——意思就是說，那些照摩西律法行事為人的人也照樣要得救。因為在摩西的律法中，那些本性上為善、為敬虔、為公義的事，是吩咐遵行的人去實踐的；而那些因百姓的心剛硬才頒布的事，也同樣有記載，是那些在律法之下的人所遵行的。」

Ἐπεὶ οἳ τὰ καθόλου καὶ φύσει καὶ αἰώνια καλὰ ἐποίουν εὐάρεστοί εἰσι τῷ θεῷ, καὶ διὰ τοῦ Χριστοῦ τούτου ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει ὁμοίως τοῖς προγενομένοις αὐτῶν δικαίοις, Νῶε καὶ Ἐνὼχ και Ἰακὼβ καὶ εἴ τινες ἄλλοι γεγόνασι, σωθήσονται σὺν τοῖς ἐπιγνοῦσι τὸν Χριστὸν τοῦτον τοῦ θεοῦ υἱόν, ὃς καὶ πρὸ ἑωσφόρου καὶ σελήνης ἦν, καὶ διὰ τῆς παρθένου ταύτης τῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ γένους τοῦ Δαυῒδ γεννηθήναι σαρκοποιηθεὶς ὑπέμεινεν, ἵνα διὰ τῆς οἰκονομίας ταύτης ὁ πονηρευσάμενος τὴν ἀρχὴν ὄφις καὶ οἱ ἐξομοιωθέντες αὐτῷ ἄγγελοι κατα λυθῶσι, καὶ ὁ θάνατος καταφρονηθῇ καὶ ἐν τῇ δευτέρᾳ αὐτοῦ τοῦ Χριστοῦ παρουσίᾳ ἀπὸ τῶν πιστευόντων αὐτῷ καὶ εὐαρέστως ζώντων παύσηται τέλεον, ὕστερον μηκέτ ὤν, ὅταν οἱ μὲν εἰς κρίσιν καὶ καταδίκην τοῦ πυρὸς ἀπαύστως κολάζεσθαι πεμφθῶσιν. οἱ δὲ ἐν ἀπαθείᾳ καὶ ἀφθαρσίᾳ καὶ ἀλυπίᾳ καὶ ἀθανασία συνῶσιν

Since those who did the things that are universally and naturally and eternally good are well-pleasing to God, they too shall be saved, through this Christ, in the resurrection, together with the righteous who preceded them—Noah and Enoch and Jacob and any others who have lived—along with those who have recognized this Christ to be the Son of God; who also existed before the morning star and the moon, and who endured to be made flesh and born through this virgin of the race of David, in order that through this dispensation the serpent who did evil from the beginning, and the angels who became like him, might be destroyed, and that death might be despised, and that at the second coming of this Christ Himself it might wholly cease for those who believe in Him and live in a way pleasing to Him, existing no longer thereafter—when some shall be sent to be punished unceasingly in the judgment and condemnation of fire, while others shall be together in freedom from suffering and incorruption and freedom from grief and immortality.
