Οὐκ ἠρκέσθησαν δὲ οἱ φαῦλοι δαίμονες πρὸ τῆς φανερώσεως τοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰπεῖν τοὺς λεχθέντας υἱοὺς τῷ Διῒ γεγονέναι, ἀλλ ἐπειδή, φανερωθέντος αὐτοῦ καὶ γενομένου ἐν ἀνθρώποις, καὶ ὅπως διὰ τῶν προφητῶν προεκεκήρυκτο ἔμαθον καὶ ἐν παντὶ γένει πιστευόμενον καὶ προσδοκώμενον ἔγνωσαν, πάλιν, ὡς προεδηλώσαμεν, προεβάλλοντο ἄλλους, Σίμωνα μὲν καὶ Μένανδρον ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας, οἳ καὶ μαγικὰς δυνάμεις ποιήσαντες πολλοὺς ἐξηπάτησαν καὶ ἔτι ἀπατωμένους ἔχουσι. Καὶ γὰρ παρ ὑμῖν, ὡς προέφημεν, ἐν τῇ βασιλίδι Ρώμῃ ἐπὶ Κλαυδίου Καίσαρος γενόμενος ὁ Σίμων καὶ τὴν ἱερὰν σύγκλητον καὶ τὸν δῆμον Ῥωμαίων εἰς τοσοῦτο κατεπλήξατο, ὡς θεὸν νομισθῆναι καὶ ἀνδριάντι, ὡς τοὺς ἄλλους παρ ὑμῖν τιμωμένους θεούς, τιμηθῆναι. Ὅθεν τήν τε ἱερὰν σύγκλητον καὶ τὸν δῆμον τὸν ὑμέτερον συνεπιγνώμονας ταύτης ἡμῶν τῆς ἀξιώσεως παραλαβεῖν αἰτοῦμεν, ἵν᾿, εἴ τις εἴη τοῖς ἀπ ἐκείνου διδάγμασι κατεχόμενος, τἀληθὲς μαθὼν τὴν πλάνην φυγεῖν δυνηθῇ. Καὶ τὸν ἀνδριάντα, εἰ βούλεσθε, καθαιρήσατε
But the wicked demons were not content to have said, before the manifestation of Christ, that the so-called sons of Zeus had been born; rather, after he was manifested and had come to be among men, and they learned how it had been proclaimed beforehand through the prophets, and knew that he was being believed in and expected among every race, they again, as we explained before, put forward others — Simon and Menander from Samaria — who, performing magical powers, deceived many and still hold them deceived. For even among you, as we said before, in the imperial city of Rome under Claudius Caesar, Simon, having appeared, so astounded the sacred senate and the people of the Romans that he was accounted a god and was honored with a statue, like the other gods honored among you. Therefore we ask that the sacred senate and your people be taken as joint judges of this our petition, so that if anyone be held fast by his teachings, he may, learning the truth, be able to flee the error. And the statue, if you please, you may take down.
然而，惡鬼魔並不滿足於在基督顯現以前說那些所謂宙斯之子已經誕生；反倒在他顯現、來在人間之後，又得知他如何藉眾先知預先被宣告，又曉得他在各族中被人相信、被人盼望，便如我們先前所解釋的，再推出別人——就是從撒瑪利亞來的西門和米南得——他們行邪術，迷惑了許多人，並且至今仍把他們留在迷惑中。因為連在你們中間，如我們先前所說，在帝都羅馬，於革老丟該撒的時候，那西門出現，竟使尊貴的元老院和羅馬的民眾大為驚駭，以致他被當作神，並像你們中間所敬奉的別神一樣，被立像尊崇。因此我們求你們，請尊貴的元老院和你們的民眾，一同來審斷我們這份呈請，好使凡被他的教訓所轄制的人，得知真理，便能逃離那謬妄。那像，你們若願意，盡可拆除。
