ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).
"And I am not unaware," I added, "that you dare to interpret this psalm as having been spoken about King Hezekiah; but that you are mistaken, I will at once prove to you from the very words. 'The Lord has sworn and will not repent,' it says, and, 'You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek,' along with what follows and what precedes. Now that Hezekiah was neither a priest nor an eternal priest of God, not even you will dare to deny; and that it was spoken concerning our Jesus, these very utterances signify. But your ears are stopped and your hearts are hardened."
"For the words, 'The Lord has sworn and will not repent: You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek'—God, with an oath, on account of your unbelief, declared him to be a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. That is to say, just as Melchizedek is recorded by Moses to have been a priest of the Most High—and he was a priest of those in uncircumcision, and blessed the circumcised Abraham who offered him tithes—so God indicated that his eternal priest, who is also called Lord by the Holy Spirit, would be a priest of those in uncircumcision; and those in circumcision who come to him—that is, who believe in him and seek blessings from him—these too he will receive and bless. And that he would first be a lowly man and then be exalted, the words at the end of the psalm show: for 'He shall drink of the brook by the way,' and together with it, 'Therefore he shall lift up his head.'"
