3-134:1

Εἰ οὖν καὶ ὑμᾶς δυσωπεῖ τά τε τῶν προφητῶν διδάγματα καὶ τὰ ἐκείνου αὐτοῦ, βέλτιόν ἐστιν ὑμᾶς τῷ θεῷ ἕπεσθαι ἢ τοῖς ἀσυνέτοις καὶ τυφλοῖς διδασκάλοις ὑμῶν, οἵτινες καὶ μέχρι νῦν καὶ τέσσαρας καὶ πέντε ἔχειν ὑμᾶς γυναῖκας ἕκαστον συγχωροῦσι, καὶ ἑὰν εὔμορφόν τις ἰδὼν ἐπιθυμήσῃ αὐτῆς, τὰς Ἰακὼβ τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ τῶν ἄλλων πατριαρχῶν πράξεις ἀνιστοροῦντες καὶ μηδὲν ἀδικεῖν λέγοντες τοὺς τὰ ὅμοια πράττοντας, τάλανες καὶ ἀνόητοι καὶ κατὰ τοῦτο ὄντες

If, then, the teachings both of the prophets and of Him Himself shame you, it is better for you to follow God than your foolish and blind teachers, who even to this day permit each of you to have four and five wives, and, if anyone sees a beautiful woman and desires her, they recount the deeds of Jacob who was called Israel and of the other patriarchs, and say that those who do the like do no wrong—being wretched and senseless in this matter too.

Ὡς προέφην γάρ, οἰκονομίαι τινὲς μεγάλων μυστηρίων ἐν ἑκάστῃ τινί τοιαύτῃ πράξει ἀπετελοῦντο. Ἐν γὰρ τοῖς γάμοις τοῦ Ἰακὼβ τίς οἰκονομία καὶ προκήρυξις ἀπετελεῖτο, ἐρῶ, ὅπως καὶ ἐν τούτοις ἐπιγνῶτε ὅτι οὐδὲν πρὸς τὸ θειωδέστερον, δι ὅ ἑκάστη πρᾶξις γέγονεν, ἀπεῖδον ὑμῶν ἀεὶ οἱ διδάσκαλοι, ἀλλὰ πρὸς τὰ χαμαιπετῆ καὶ τὰ διαφθορᾶς μᾶλλον πάθη. Προσέχετε τοιγαροῦν οἷς λέγω

For, as I said before, certain dispensations of great mysteries were accomplished in each such deed. For what dispensation and foretelling was accomplished in the marriages of Jacob, I will tell, so that in these things too you may recognise that your teachers never looked to the more divine purpose for which each deed was done, but to the low and corrupting passions. Give heed, therefore, to what I say.

Τῆς ὑπὸ τοῦ Χριστοῦ μελλούσης ἀπαρτίζεσθαι πράξεως τύποι ἦσαν οἱ γάμοι τοῦ Ἰακώβ. Δύο γὰρ ἀδελφὰς κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ οὐ θεμιτὸν γαμῆσαι τὸν Ἰακώβ· καὶ δουλεύει δὲ τῷ Λάβαν ὑπὲρ τῶν θυγατέρων, καὶ ψευσθεὶς ἐπὶ τῇ νεωτέρᾳ πάλιν ἐδούλευσεν ἑπτὰ ἔτη. Ἀλλὰ Λεία μὲν ὁ λαὸς ὑμῶν καὶ ἡ συναγωγή, Ῥαχὴλ δὲ ἡ ἐκκλησία ἡμῶν. Καὶ ὑπὲρ τούτων δουλεύει μέχρι νῦν ὁ Χριστὸς καὶ τῶν ἐν ἀμφοτέραις δούλων

The marriages of Jacob were types of that which was to be accomplished by Christ. For it was not lawful for Jacob to marry two sisters at the same time; and he served Laban for the daughters, and, having been deceived in the matter of the younger, he served again seven years. But Leah is your people and the synagogue, and Rachel is our church. And for these Christ still serves, and for the servants in both.

Ἐπεὶ γὰρ τοῖς δυσὶν υἱοῖς τὸ τοῦ τρίτου σπέρμα εἰς δουλείαν ὁ Νῶε ἔδωκε, νῦν πάλιν εἰς ἀποκατάστασιν ἀμφοτέρων τε τῶν ἐλευθέρων τέκνων καὶ τῶν ἐν αὐτοῖς δούλων Χριστὸς ἐλήλυθε, τῶν αὐτῶν πάντας καταξιῶν τοὺς φυλάσσοντας τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ, ὃν τρόπον καὶ οἱ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐλευθέρων καὶ οἱ ἀπὸ τῶν δούλων γενόμενοι τῷ Ἰακὼβ πάντες υἱοὶ καὶ ὁμότιμοι γεγόνασι· κατὰ δὲ τὴν τάξιν καὶ κατὰ τὴν πρόγνωσιν, ὁποῖος ἕκαστος ἔσται, προλέλεκται

For since Noah gave the seed of the third into servitude to his two sons, now again Christ has come for the restoration of both the free children and the servants among them, deeming all worthy of the same things—those who keep His commandments—just as those born to Jacob, both from the free women and from the bondwomen, all became sons and of equal honour; but according to rank and according to foreknowledge, what kind each one will be has been foretold.

Ἐβούλευσεν Ἰακὼβ τῷ Λάβαν ὑπὲρ τῶν ῥαντῶν καὶ πολυμόρφων θρεμμάτων· ἐδούλευσε καὶ τὴν μέχρι σταυροῦ δουλείαν ὁ Χριστὸς ὑπὲρ τῶν ἐκ παντὸς γένους ποικίλων καὶ πολυειδῶν ἀνθρώπων, δι αἵματος καὶ μυστηρίου τοῦ σταυροῦ κτησάμενος αὐτούς· Λείας ἀσθενεῖς ἦσαν οί ὀφθαλμοί· καὶ γὰρ ὑμῶν σφόδρα οἱ τῆς ψυχῆς ὀφθαλμοί. Ἔκλεψε Ῥαχὴλ τοὺς θεοὺς Λάβαν καὶ κατέκρυψεν αὐτοὺς ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας· καὶ ἡμῖν ἀπολώλασιν οἱ πατρικοὶ καὶ ὑλικοὶ θεοί

Jacob served Laban for the speckled and many-formed flocks; and Christ served even the servitude unto the cross for the varied and many-kinded men of every race, purchasing them by the blood and mystery of the cross. Leah's eyes were weak; and indeed the eyes of your soul are exceedingly weak. Rachel stole the gods of Laban and hid them to this day; and to us the ancestral and material gods have perished.

Τὸν χρόνον πάντα ἐμισεῖτο ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ὁ Ἰακώβ· καὶ ἡμεῖς νῦν καὶ αὐτὸς ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν μισεῖται ὑφ ὑμῶν καὶ ὑπὸ τῶν ἄλλων ἁπλῶς ἀνθρώπων, ὄντων πάντων τῇ φύσει ἀδελφῶν. Ἰσραὴλ ἐπεκλήθη Ἰακώβ· καὶ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ὁ Χριστὸς ἀποδέδεικται, ὁ ὢν καὶ καλούμενος Ἰησοῦς

All that time Jacob was hated by his brother; and we now, and our Lord Himself, are hated by you and by all other men absolutely, though all are by nature brothers. Jacob was surnamed Israel; and Israel has also been demonstrated to be Christ, who is and is called Jesus.

雅各那一切時間都被他兄弟所恨；如今我們、並我們的主自己，也被你們、被絕對一切其他的人所恨，雖然眾人按本性都是弟兄。雅各被稱為以色列；以色列也被證明就是基督，就是那位昔在、且名為耶穌的。
