Καὶ ἡ τροφὴ αὕτη καλεῖται παρ ἡ μῖν εὐχαριστία, ἧς οὐδενὶ ἄλλῳ μετασχεῖν ἐξόν ἐστιν ἢ τῷ πιστεύοντι ἀληθῆ εἶναι τὰ δεδιδαγμένα ὑφ ἡμῶν, καὶ λουσαμένῳ τὸ ὑπὲρ ἀφέσεως ἁμαρτιῶν καὶ εἰς ἀναγέννησιν λουτρόν, καὶ οὕτως βιοῦντι ὡς ὁ Χριστὸς παρέδωκεν. Οὐ γὰρ ὡς κοινὸν ἄρτον οὐδὲ κοινὸν πόμα ταῦτα λαμβάνομεν· ἀλλ ὃν τρόπον διὰ λόγου θεοῦ σαρκοποιηθεὶς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς ὁ σωτὴρ ἡμῶν καὶ σάρκα καὶ αἷμα ὑπὲρ σωτηρίας ἡμῶν ἔσχεν, οὕτως καὶ τὴν δι εὐχῆς λόγου τοῦ παρ αὐτοῦ εὐχαριστηθεῖσαν τροφήν, ἐξ ἠς αἷμα καὶ σάρκες κατὰ μεταβολὴν τρέφονται ἡμῶν, ἐκείνου τοῦ σαρκοποιηθέντος Ἰησοῦ καὶ σάρκα καὶ αἷμα ἐδιδάχθημεν εἶναι. Οἱ γὰρ ἀπόστολοι ἐν τοῖς γενομένοις ὑπ αὐτῶν ἀπομνημονεύμασιν,ἃ καλεῖται εὐαγγέλια, οὕτως παρέδωκαν ἐντετάλθαι αὐτοῖς, τὸν Ἰησοῦν λαβόντα ἄρτον εὐχαριστήσαντα εἰπεῖν· Τοῦτο ποιεῖτε εἰς τὴν ἀνάμνησίν μου, τοῦτό ἐστι τὸ σῶμά μου· καὶ τὸ ποτήριον ὁμοίως λαβόντα καὶ εὐχαριστήσαντα εἰπεῖν· Τοῦτό ἐστι τὸ αἷμά μου· καὶ μόνοις αὐτοῖς μεταδοῦναι. Ὅπερ καὶ ἐν τοῖς τοῖ Μίθρα μυστηρίοις παρέδωκαν γίνεσθαι μιμησάμενοι οἱ πονηροὶ δαίμονες· ὅτι γὰρ ἄρτος καὶ ποτήριον ὕδατος τίθεται ἐν ταῖς τοῦ μυουμένου τελεταῖς μετ ἐπιλόγων τινῶν, ἢ ἐπίστασθε ἢ μαθεῖν δύνασθε
And this food is called among us the Eucharist, of which it is lawful for no one to partake except the one who believes that the things we teach are true, and has been washed with the washing for the forgiveness of sins and unto regeneration, and so lives as Christ handed down. For we do not receive these things as common bread or common drink; but just as Jesus Christ our Savior, having been made flesh through the Word of God, took both flesh and blood for our salvation, so also we have been taught that the food over which thanks have been given through the prayer of the Word that comes from him—the food from which our blood and flesh are by transformation nourished—is both the flesh and the blood of that Jesus who was made flesh. For the apostles, in the memoirs made by them, which are called Gospels, handed down that it was thus enjoined upon them: that Jesus, having taken bread and given thanks, said, "Do this in remembrance of me; this is my body"; and that likewise, having taken the cup and given thanks, he said, "This is my blood"; and that he gave it to them alone. Which the wicked demons, in imitation, have handed down to be done also in the mysteries of Mithras; for that bread and a cup of water are set out in the rites of initiation, with certain formulas, you either know or are able to learn.
這食物在我們中間稱為聖餐，除了相信我們所教導的都是真實的、並已受了那為赦罪與重生之洗、又照基督所傳之道而活的人以外，任何人都不可領受。因為我們領受這些，並非當作平常的餅或平常的飲料;乃是正如我們的救主耶穌基督藉神的道成了肉身，為我們的得救取了肉與血，照樣我們也受教，知道那藉著從祂而來之道的禱告而獻過感謝的食物——就是那滋養我們、藉變化而成為我們血與肉的食物——乃是那成了肉身之耶穌的肉與血。因為使徒們在他們所作、稱為福音書的記述中，傳下這曾吩咐他們的事：耶穌拿起餅來，祝謝了，說：「你們應當如此行，為的是記念我;這是我的身體。」又照樣拿起杯來，祝謝了，說：「這是我的血。」並且單單分給他們。那些邪惡的鬼魔加以仿效，也傳下在密特拉的奧祕禮中如此行;因為在入教者的禮儀中，擺上餅和一杯水，並配以某些咒語，這事你們或是知道，或是能夠查明。
