3-140:1

Ὅθεν καὶ Ἰακώβ, ὡς προεῖπον, τύπος ὢν καὶ αὐτὸς τοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ τὰς δύο δούλας τῶν δύο ἐλευθέρων αὐτοῦ γυναικῶν ἐγεγαμήκει, καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐτέκνωσεν υἱούς, εἰς τὸ προμηνυθῆναι ὅτι ὁ Χριστὸς προσλήψεται καὶ τοὺς ὲν γένει τοῦ Ἰάφεθ ὄντας ἀπὸ τοῦ Χαναὰν πάντας ὁμοίως τοῖς ἐλευθέροις καὶ τέκνα συγκληρονόμα ἕξει· ἅπερ ἡμεῖς ὄντες, συνιέναι ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε, διὰ τὸ μὴ δύνασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τοῦ θεοῦ ζώσης πηγῆς πιεῖν, ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ τῶν συντετριμμένων λάκκων καὶ ὕδωρ μὴ δυναμένων συνέχειν, ὡς ἡ γραφὴ λέγει

Wherefore also Jacob, as I said before, being himself too a type of Christ, married the two bondmaids of his two free wives, and begot sons from them, in order that it might be foreshown beforehand that Christ would receive also all those in the race of Japheth who are from Canaan, equally with the free, and would have them as children and co-heirs—which we, being such, you are not able to understand, because you are not able to drink from the living fountain of God, but from broken cisterns that cannot hold water, as the Scripture says.

因此雅各，如我先前所說，他自己也是基督的預表，娶了他兩個自由之妻的兩個使女，從她們生了兒子，為要預先表明：基督也要把那在雅弗族中、出於迦南的眾人，與自由的人同等地接納，並要使他們作兒女、作同承受產業的——這事我們既是這樣的人便明白，你們卻不能明白，因為你們不能從神的活泉喝水，乃從破裂、不能存水的池子喝，正如經上所說。

Εἰσὶ δὲ λάκκοι συντετριμμένοι καὶ ὕδωρ μὴ συνέχοντες οὓς ὤρυξαν ὑμῖν οἱ διδάσκαλοι ὑμῶν αὐτῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡ γραφὴ διαρρήδην λέγει, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας, ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων. Καὶ πρὸς τούτοις ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ὑμᾶς βουκολοῦσιν, ὑπολαμβάνοντες ὅτι πάντως τοῖς ἀπὸ τῆς σπορᾶς τῆς κατὰ σάρκα τοῦ Ἀβραὰμ οὖσι, κἂν ἁμαρτωλοὶ ὦσι καὶ ἄπιστοι καὶ ἀπειθεῖς πρὸς τὸν θεόν, ἡ βασιλεία ἡ αἰώνιος δοθήσεται, ἅπερ ἀπέδειξαν αἱ γραφαὶ οὐκ ὄντα

And the broken cisterns that hold no water are those which your own teachers have dug for you, as the Scripture also expressly says, teaching teachings, the precepts of men. And in addition to this they deceive both themselves and you, supposing that to those who are of the fleshly seed of Abraham, even though they be sinners and unbelieving and disobedient toward God, the eternal kingdom shall by all means be given—which things the Scriptures have shown not to be so.

那不能存水的破裂池子，就是你們自己的教師為你們所鑿的，正如經上也明說的，他們所教導的乃是人的訓誡。此外他們既欺哄自己也欺哄你們，以為凡屬亞伯拉罕肉身後裔的，即使是有罪、不信、向神悖逆的，那永遠的國也必定要賜給他們——這些事，聖經已顯明並非如此。

Ἦ γὰρ τοῦτο οὐκ ἂν εἶπεν Ἡσαΐας· Καὶ εἰ μὴ κύριος σαβαὼθ ἐγκατέλιπεν ἡμῖν σπέρμα, ὡς Σόδομα ἂν καὶ Γόμορρα ἐγενήθημεν· καὶ Ἰεζεκιήλ· ὅτι Κἂν Νῶε καὶ Ἰακὼβ καὶ Δανιὴλ ἐξαιτήσωνται υἱοὺς ἢ θυγατέρας, οὐ μὴ δοθῇ αὐτοῖς· ἀλλ οὔτε πατὴρ ὑπὲρ υἱοῦ οὔτε υἱὸς ὑπὲρ πατρός, ἀλλ ἕκαστος τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀπολεῖται καὶ ἕκαστος τῇ ἑαυτοῦ δικαιοπραξίᾳ σωθήσεται· καὶ πάλιν Ἡσαΐας· Ὄψονται τὰ κῶλα τῶν παραβεβηκότων· ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ παυθήσεται, καὶ τὸ πῦρ αὐτῶν οὐ σβεσθήσεται, καὶ ἔσονται εἰς ὅρασιν πάσῃ σαρκί

For otherwise Isaiah would not have said: 'And unless the Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we should have become as Sodom and Gomorrah'; and Ezekiel: 'Even if Noah and Jacob and Daniel should ask for sons or daughters, it shall not be given them; but neither father for son nor son for father, but each shall perish in his own sin, and each shall be saved by his own righteous practice'; and again Isaiah: 'They shall look upon the limbs of the transgressors; their worm shall not cease, and their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be a spectacle to all flesh.'

因為不然以賽亞就不會說：「若不是萬軍之耶和華給我們留下餘種，我們早已像所多瑪、蛾摩拉了」；以西結也不會說：「即使挪亞、雅各、但以理為兒女祈求，也不給他們；父不能替子，子不能替父，各人必因自己的罪滅亡，各人必因自己所行的義得救」；以賽亞又說：「他們要觀看那些違犯者的肢體；他們的蟲不死，他們的火不滅，他們要成為一切有血氣之人觀看的景象。」

Καὶ ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντος αὐτὸν πατρὸς καὶ δεσπότου τῶν ὅλων οὐκ ἂν εἶπεν· Ἥξουσιν ἀπὸ δυσμῶν καὶ ἀνατολῶν, καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται μετὰ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν· οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ τῆς βασιλείας ἐκβληθήσονται εἰς τὸ σκότος τὸ ἐξώτερον; Ἀλλὰ καὶ ὅτι οὐκ αἰτίᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ οἱ προγινωσκόμενοι καὶ γενησόμενοι ἄδικοι, εἴτε ἄγγελοι εἴτε ἄνθρωποι, γίνονται φαῦλοι, ἀλλὰ τῇ ἑαυτῶν ἕκαστος αἰτίᾳ τοιοῦτοί εἰσιν ὁποῖος ἕκαστος φανήσεται, ἀπέδειξα καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔμπροσθεν

And our Lord, according to the will of the Father who sent Him and is Master of all things, would not have said: 'They shall come from the west and the east, and shall recline with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness.' And that those foreknown to be unrighteous, whether angels or men, become evil not by any fault of God's, but each is of such a kind as he shall appear by his own fault, I have demonstrated also in what went before.

我們的主，照那差祂來、又是萬有之主宰的父之旨意，也不會說：「必有許多人從東從西而來，在天國裡與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各一同坐席；惟有本國的子民竟被趕到外邊黑暗裡去。」並且那些被預知為不義的，無論天使或人，並非因神的任何過失而變惡，乃是各人因自己的過失而成為他將要顯出的那種人，這我也在前面證明了。
