Καὶ ἡσυχίαν ἀγόντων αὐτῶν ἐπέφερον· Διὰ Δαυῒδ περὶ τούτου λέγων τοῦ Χριστοῦ , ὦ φίλοι , οὐκέτι ἐν τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ εἶπεν εὐλογηθήσεσθαι τὰ ἔθνη , ἀλλὰ ἐν αὐτῷ . Οὕτω δὲ ἐκεῖ ἐστι· Τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα , ὑπὲρ τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατελεῖ· καὶ ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν αὐτῷ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη . Εἰ δὲ ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ εὐλογεῖται τὰ ἔθνη πάντα , καὶ ἐκ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐπὶ τοῦτον πιστεύομεν , καὶ αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ Χριστός , καὶ ἡμεῖς οἱ δι αὐτοῦ εὐλογημένοι
And while they kept silence, I went on: Speaking through David concerning this Christ, my friends, He no longer said that the nations would be blessed in his seed, but in Himself. So there it stands: 'His name shall endure for ever; it shall rise above the sun; and in Him shall all the nations be blessed.' But if all the nations are blessed in Christ, and we from all the nations believe in Him, then He is indeed the Christ, and we are those who are blessed through Him.

Τὸν μὲν ἥλιον ὁ θεὸς ἐδεδώκει πρότερον εἰς τὸ προσκυνεῖν αὐτόν , ὡς γέγραπται , καὶ οὐδένα οὐδέποτε ἰδεῖν ἔστιν ὑπομείναντα διὰ τὴν πρὸς τὸν ἥλιον πίστιν ἀποθανεῖν· διὰ δὲ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐκ παντὸς γένους ἀνθρώπων καὶ ὑπομείναντας καὶ ὑπομένοντας πάντα πάσχειν ὑπὲρ τοῦ μὴ ἀρνήσασθαι αὐτὸν ἰδεῖν ἔστι . Πυρωδέστερος γὰρ αὐτοῦ ὁ τῆς ἀληθείας καὶ σοφίας λόγος καὶ φωτεινότερος μᾶλλον τῶν ἡλίου δυνάμεών ἐστι , καὶ εἰς τὰ βάθη τῆς καρδίας καὶ τοῦ νοῦ εἰσδύνων . Ὅθεν καὶ ὁ λόγος ἔφη· Ὑπὲρ τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατελεῖ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ . Καὶ πάλιν Ἀνατολὴ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ζαχαρίας φησί . Καὶ περὶ τοῦ αὐτοῦ λέγων εἶπεν , ὅτι Κόψονται φυλὴ κατὰ φυλήν
God had formerly given the sun to be worshipped, as it is written, and yet no one can be seen ever to have endured to die for faith in the sun; but for the name of Jesus one may see, from every race of men, those who have endured and do endure to suffer all things rather than deny Him. For the word of His truth and wisdom is more fiery and more luminous than the powers of the sun, and penetrates into the depths of the heart and mind. Whence also the Word said, 'His name shall rise above the sun.' And again, Zechariah says, 'Dawn is His name.' And speaking of the same One, he said, 'They shall mourn tribe by tribe.'
神從前曾把日頭賜下供人敬拜，正如所記，然而從未見有人為對日頭的信仰甘願受死；但為耶穌的名，人卻可從各族的人中見到那些甘願受、且正受一切苦也不否認祂的人。因為祂真理與智慧之道，比日頭的能力更火熱、更明亮，能進入人心與意念的深處。因此那道說：「祂的名要升過日頭。」撒迦利亞又說：「祂名叫晨光（Anatolē/Dawn）。」論到同一位，他說：「他們要一族一族地哀哭。」

Εἰ δὲ ἐν τῇ ἀτίμῳ καὶ ἀειδεῖ καὶ ἐξουθενημένῃ πρώτῃ παρουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ τοσοῦτον ἔλαμψε καὶ ἴσχυσεν , ὡς ἐν μηδενὶ γένει ἀγνοεῖσθαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπὸ παντὸς μετάνοιαν πεποιῆσθαι ἀπὸ τῆς παλαιᾶς κακῆς ἑκάστου γένους πολιτείας , ὥστε καὶ τὰ δαιμόνια ὑποτάσσεσθαι αὐτοῦ τῷ ὀνόματι καὶ πάσας τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς βασιλείας τούτου τὸ ὄνομα παρὰ πάντας τοὺς ἀποθανόντας δεδοικέναι , οὐκ ἐκ παντὸς τρόπου ἐν τῇ ἐνδόξῳ αὐτοῦ παρουσίᾳ καταλύσει πάντας τοὺς μισήσαντας αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς αὐτοῦ ἀδίκως ἀποστάντας , τοὺς δὲ ἰδίους ἀναπαύσει , ἀποδιδοὺς αὐτοῖς τὰ προσδοκώμενα πάντα
But if at His first coming, which was without honour, without form, and despised, He so shone and prevailed that in no race is He unknown, and from every race repentance has been wrought from the old wicked manner of life of each, so that even the demons are subject to His name and all the principalities and kingdoms dread His name above all those who have died, shall He not by all means, at His glorious coming, utterly destroy all those who hated Him and who unjustly departed from Him, but give rest to His own, rendering to them all the things they look for?
但若在祂第一次來臨——那無榮耀、無佳形、被輕看的來臨——祂尚且如此照耀、如此得勝，以致在各族中無不認識祂，又從各族成就了悔改、離開各族從前邪惡的生活方式，甚至連鬼魔也服在祂名下，一切執政掌權的國度都比一切已死之人更懼怕祂的名，那麼祂在那榮耀的來臨中，豈不必要徹底毀滅一切恨祂、並不義地離棄祂的人，卻使祂自己的人得安息，把他們所盼望的一切賜給他們嗎？
3-121:4
Ἡμῖν οὖν ἐδόθη καὶ ἀκοῦσαι καὶ συνεῖναι καὶ σωθῆναι διὰ τούτου τοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ τὰ τοῦ πατρὸς ἐπιγνῶναι πάντα . Διὰ τοῦτο ἔλεγε πρὸς αὐτόν· Μέγα σοί ἐστι τοῦ κληθῆναί σε παῖδά μου , τοῦ στῆσαι τὰς φυλὰς τοῦ Ἰακὼβ καὶ τὰς διασπορὰς τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ ἐπιστρέψαι . Τέθεικά σε εἰς φῶς ἐθνῶν , τοῦ εἶναί σε εἰς σωτηρίαν αὐτῶν ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς
To us, then, it has been granted both to hear and to understand and to be saved through this Christ, and to come to know all the things of the Father. Wherefore He said to Him: 'It is a great thing for you to be called my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to turn back the dispersions of Israel. I have set you for a light of the nations, that you should be for their salvation to the end of the earth.'
那麼，我們蒙恩得以藉這基督聽見、領悟、得救，並認識父的一切事。因此祂對祂說：「你作我的僕人，使雅各眾支派復興，使以色列被分散的人回轉，這還是小事；我必使你作外邦人的光，叫你施行我的救恩，直到地極。」
