1-8:8
Consider that we have said these things for your sake, since it lies in our power to deny when we are examined. But we do not wish to live by speaking falsely; for, longing for the eternal and pure life, we strive after fellowship in the abode with God the Father and Maker of all, and we hasten to confess, being persuaded and believing that those can attain these things who have shown God by their works that they followed him and longed for the abode with him, where evil offers no resistance. To speak briefly, then, what we expect and have learned through Christ and teach is this. Plato likewise said that Rhadamanthus and Minos would punish the unjust who came before them; but we say that the same thing will happen, only by Christ, and to the same bodies together with their souls, which will undergo eternal punishment, and not merely a thousand-year period, as he said. But if anyone says this is incredible or impossible, this error is against us and not against another, so long as we are convicted of doing no wrong in deed.
