3-9:1
Συγγνώμη σοι, ἔφην, ὦ ἄνθρωπε, καὶ ἀφεθείη σοι· οὐ γὰρ οἶδας ὃ λέγεις, ἀλλὰ πειθόμενος τοῖς διδασκάλοις. οἳ οὐ συνίασι τὰς γραφάς, καὶ ἀπομαντευόμενος λέγεις ὅ τι ἄν σοι ἐπὶ θυμὸν ἔλθοι. Εἰ δὲ βούλοιο τούτου πέρι δέξασθαι λόγον, ὡς οὐ πεπλανήμεθα οὐδὲ παυσόμεθα ὁμολογοῦντες τοῦτον, κἂν τὰ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἡμῖν ἐπιφέρωνται ὀνείδη. κἂν ὁ δεινότατος ἀπειπεῖν ἀναγκάζῃ τύραννος· παρεστῶτι γὰρ δείξω ὅτι οὐ κενοῖς ἐπιστεύσαμεν μύθοις οὐδὲ ἀναποδείκτοις λόγοις, ἀλλὰ μεστοῖς πνεύματος θείου καὶ δυνάμει βρύουσι καὶ τεθηλόσι χάριτι
「我的好朋友，」我說，「你是該得寬恕的，願你得著赦免；因為你並不知道自己在說甚麼，你只是被你的教師說服了——他們並不明白聖經——而憑著臆測，把心裡想到的隨意說出來。但你若願意聽聽關於這事的道理，就會明白我們並沒有走差路，也絕不會停止承認這位基督，縱使人的辱罵堆加在我們身上，縱使最兇殘的暴君想要強迫我們否認他；我就在此向你證明，我們所信的並非空洞的神話，也非毫無證據的言論，乃是充滿神聖之靈、滿溢能力、洋溢恩典的話語。」
"You are to be forgiven, my good man," I said, "and may it be forgiven you; for you do not know what you are saying, but, persuaded by your teachers—who do not understand the Scriptures—you speak by guesswork whatever comes into your mind. But if you are willing to receive an account concerning this, that we have not gone astray, nor will we ever cease confessing this man, even though men's reproaches be heaped upon us, even though the most terrible tyrant should try to compel us to deny him—then, standing here, I will show you that we have not put our faith in empty fables nor in undemonstrated arguments, but in words full of the divine Spirit, teeming with power, and flourishing with grace."
3-9:2
Ἀνεγέλασαν οὖν πάλιν οἱ μετ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἄκοσμον ἀνεφθέγγοντο. Ἐγὼ δὲ ἀναστὰς οἶόςτ ἤμην ἀπέρχεσθαι· ὁ δέ μου τοῦ ἱματίου λαβόμενος οὐ πρὶν ἀνήσειν ἔφη, πρὶν ὅ ὑπεσχόμην ἐκτελέσαι. Μὴ οὖν, ἔφην, θορυβείτωσαν οἱ ἑταῖροί σου μηδὲ ἀσχημονείτωσαν οὕτως, ἀλλ᾿, εἰ μὲν βούλονται, μετὰ ἡσυχίας ἀκροάσθωσαν, εἰ δὲ καὶ ἀσχολία τις αὐτοῖς ὑπέρτερος ἐμποδών ἐστιν, ἀπίτωσαν· ἡμεῖς δέ, ὑποχωρήσαντές ποι καὶ ἀναπαυσάμενοι. περαίνωμεν τὸν λόγον
於是與他同在的人又大聲嗤笑，喊出粗鄙不雅的話。我便起身，想要離去；可是他抓住我的外袍，說在我履行所應許的之前，絕不放我走。「那麼，」我說，「請你的同伴不要喧鬧，也別這樣失禮；他們若願意，就安靜聽吧；他們若有更要緊的事攔阻，就讓他們離開。至於我們，就退到別處，歇一歇，把這番談話進行到底。」
Then those who were with him laughed aloud again and cried out unseemly things. But I rose up, intending to depart; he, however, took hold of my cloak and declared he would not let me go until I had fulfilled what I had promised. "Then," I said, "let your companions not make an uproar nor behave so unbecomingly; rather, if they are willing, let them listen in quietness; but if some more urgent business stands in their way, let them go off. As for us, let us withdraw somewhere, take our rest, and bring the discussion to its conclusion."
3-9:3
Ἔδοξε καὶ τῷ Τρύφωνι οὕτως ἡμᾶς ποιῆσαι, καὶ δὴ ἐκνεύσαντες εἰς τὸ μέσον τοῦ ξυστοῦ στάδιον ᾔειμεν· τῶν δὲ σὺν αὐτῷ δύο, χλευάσαντες καὶ τὴν σπουδὴν ἡμῶν ἐπισκώψαντες, ἀπηλλάγησαν. Ἡμεῖς δὲ ὡς ἐγενόμεθα ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ τόπῳ, ἔνθα ἑκατέρωθεν λίθινοί εἰσι θῶκοι, ἐν τῷ ἑτέρῳ καθεσθέντες οἱ μετὰ τοῦ Τρύφωνος, ἐμβαλόντος τινὸς αὐτῶν λόγον περὶ τοῦ κατὰ τὴν Ἰουδαίαν γενομένου πολέμου, διελάλουν
特來弗也覺得我們這樣做甚好；於是我們轉身，走向那柱廊中央的場地。但他同伴中有兩個人，譏笑並嘲弄我們的認真，就走開了。我們來到那處兩邊都設有石座的地方，與特來弗同在的人就在其中一排坐下；他們中間有一人提起了在猶太地所發生的那場戰爭，便彼此議論起來。
Trypho too thought it good for us to do so; and so, turning aside, we made our way to the middle court of the colonnade. But two of those with him, jeering and mocking our earnestness, went away. When we came to that place where on either side there are stone seats, those with Trypho sat down on one of them; and one of them, throwing in a remark about the war that had taken place in Judaea, began to talk it over.
