111:1
Luc. XII, 13-21. At ille dixit ei: Homo, quis me constituit judicem, aut divisorem supra vos?
(Luke xii, 13-21.) And one of the multitude said to him: Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me. But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me a judge, or a divider, over you? And he said to them: Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life doth not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spoke a similitude to them, saying: The land of a certain rich man brought forth plenty of fruits; and he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns and build greater; and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me, and my goods; and I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years;
(路加福音十二13-21。)眾人中有一個人對耶穌說:「夫子,請你吩咐我的兄長和我分開家業。」耶穌說:「你這個人,誰立我作你們斷事的官,給你們分家業呢?」於是對眾人說:「你們要謹慎自守,免去一切的貪心,因為人的生命不在乎家道豐富。」就用比喻對他們說:「有一個財主,田地出產豐盛,自己心裡思想說:『我的出產沒有地方收藏,怎麼辦呢?』又說:『我要這麼辦:要把我的倉房拆了,另蓋更大的,在那裡好收藏我一切的糧食和財物,然後要對我的靈魂說:靈魂哪,你有許多財物積存,可作多年的費用;
111:2
requiesce, comede, bibe, epulare.
take thy rest; eat, drink, make merry. But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee; and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.
