On the Acts of the Apostles (Epic) 84

And coming into His own country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they marvelled and said: 'Whence has this man this wisdom, and such mighty works which are wrought by His hands? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then has this man all these things?' And they were scandalized in Him. And He said to them: 'Surely you will say to Me this proverb: Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy own country.' And He said: 'Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country and in his own house.'

And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief, except that He laid His hands upon a few sick and healed them; and He marvelled because of their unbelief. 'In truth I say to you: there were many widows in the days of Elijah in Israel, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land; and to none of them was Elijah sent, save to Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman. And there were many lepers in Israel under Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, save Naaman the Syrian.' And all in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with wrath.

And they rose up and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong. But He, passing through the midst of them, went His way.
