27:1
JOAN. III, 22-36.
(John 3:22-36) After these things Jesus came, and his disciples, into the land of Judea; and there he abode with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was much water there; and they came and were baptized; for John was not yet cast into prison. And there arose a question between the disciples of John and the Jews concerning purification. And they came to John, and said to him: 'Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou gavest testimony, behold, he baptizeth, and all come to him.' John answered and said: 'A man cannot receive anything, unless it be given him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness that I said:
27:2
Ego non sum Christus, sed quia missus sum ante illum. Qui habet sponsam, sponsus est: amicus autem sponsi qui stat et audit eum, gaudio gaudet propter vocem sponsi. Hoc ergo gaudium meum impletum est. Illum oportet crescere, me nutent minui. Qui disursum venit, super omnes est. Qui est de terra, deterra est, et de terra loquitur. Qui de cœlo venit, super omnes est. Et quod vidit et audivit, hoc testatur: et testimonium ejus nemo accipit. Qui accepit ejus testimonium, signavit quia Deus verax est. Quem enim misit Deus, verba Dei loquitur. Non enim ad mensuram dat Deus spiritum. Pater diligit Flium, et omnia dedit in manu ejus. Qui credit in Filium, habet vitam æternam;
I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. You yourselves are my witnesses. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with joy because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all. He that is of the earth, is of the earth, and of the earth he speaketh. He that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God; for God doth not give the Spirit by measure. The Father loveth the Son, and he hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth in the Son hath life everlasting;
我不是基督,乃是奉差遣在他前面的。你們自己給我作見證。娶新婦的就是新郎;新郎的朋友站著聽他,因新郎的聲音就歡喜快樂。故此,我這喜樂滿足了。他必興旺,我必衰微。從天上來的是在萬有之上。從地上來的是屬乎地,他所說的也是屬乎地。從天上來的是在萬有之上,他將所見所聞的見證出來,只是沒有人領受他的見證。那領受他見證的,就印證神是真的。神所差來的,就說神的話,因為神賜聖靈給他是沒有限量的。父愛子,已將萬有交在他手裡。信子的人有永生;

I, 44,etquod Joannes traditus esset, reliquit Judaeam, et abiit iterum in Galilæam. —MATTH. IV, 12-16.
but he that is unbelieving to the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.' (John 4:1-3) When Jesus therefore understood that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus maketh more disciples and baptizeth more than John (though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples), (Mark 1:14) and that John was delivered up, he left Judea and went again into Galilee. (Matt. 4:12-16) And when he had heard that John was delivered up, he retired into Galilee; and leaving the city of Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capharnaum on the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim, that it might be fulfilled which was said by Isaiah the prophet: 'The land of Zabulon and the land of Nephthalim, the way of the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.
27:4
Populus qui ambulabat in tenebris, vidit lucem magnam: el sedentibus in regione umbræ mortis, lux orta est eis (Isa. IX, i, 2).
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; and to them that sat in the region of the shadow of death, light is risen' (Isa. 9:1-2).
