(Matt. 24:37-51; Luke 17:26-37) And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark; and they knew not till the flood came and took them all away: so also shall the coming of the Son of man be. Likewise as it came to pass in the days of Lot: they did eat and drink, they bought and sold, they planted and built; and in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all: even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man shall be revealed. (Matt. 24:16-18; Mark 13:14-16)
Then those who are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; and he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take anything out of his house; and he that is in the field, let him not turn back to take his garment. (Luke 17:32-37) Remember Lot's wife. Then there shall be two in the field: one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding together: the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other left. They answering said to him: Where, Lord? Who said to them: (Matt. 24:28) Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together. (Mark 13:34-37) As a man who, going into a far country, left his house, and gave his servants power over every work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Watch ye therefore (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning), lest coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping. And know this ye, that if the householder did know at what hour the thief would come, he would surely watch and would not suffer his house to be broken open. Be you then also ready, for at what hour you think not the Son of man will come. (Luke 12:41-46) And Peter said to him: Lord, dost thou speak this parable to us, or likewise to all? (Mark 13:37) And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch. And the Lord said: Who, thinkest thou, is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord setteth over his family, to give them their measure of wheat in due season?
Blessed is that servant whom, when his lord cometh, he shall find so doing. Verily I say to you, he shall set him over all his goods. But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a-coming; and shall begin to strike his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken: the lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not, and at an hour that he knoweth not, and shall separate him, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites and the unbelievers: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
