MATTH. XXII, 15-22; MAure. XII, 13-17; Lue. xx, 20-26. Tunc abeuntes Pharisæi consilium inierunt ut caperent eum in sermone. Et mittunt ei discipulos suos cum Herodianis, dicentes: Magister, scimus quia verax es, ct viam Dei in veritate doces, et non est lihi cura de aliquo: non enim respicis personam hominum. Die ergo nobis: Quid tibi videtur ? Licet censum dare Caesari, an non? Cognita autem Jcsus nequitia eorum, ait: Quid me tentatis, hypocritæ? Ostendite mibi numisma census. At illi obtulerunt ei denarium. Et ait illis Jesus: Cujus est imago hæc et suprascriptio? Dicunt ei: Cæsaris. Tunc ait illis: Reddite ergo quae sunt Cæsaris Cæsari, et quæ sunt Dci Deo.
Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might catch him in his talk. And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying: 'Master, we know that you are truthful, and that you teach the way of God in truth, and that you care for no one, for you do not regard the person of men. Tell us therefore: What do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?' But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: 'Why do you tempt me, hypocrites? Show me the coin of the tribute.' And they offered him a denarius. And Jesus said to them: 'Whose is this image and inscription?' They said to him: 'Caesar's.' Then he said to them: 'Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.'
當時，法利賽人出去商議，怎樣就着耶穌的話陷害他。就打發他們的門徒同希律黨的人去見耶穌，說：「夫子，我們知道你是誠實人，並且誠誠實實傳神的道，甚麼人你都不徇情面，因為你不看人的外貌。請告訴我們，你的意見如何？納稅給凱撒可以不可以？」耶穌看出他們的惡意，就說：「假冒為善的人哪，為甚麼試探我？拿一個上稅的錢給我看。」他們就拿一個銀錢來給他。耶穌對他們說：「這像和這號是誰的？」他們說：「是凱撒的。」於是他對他們說：「這樣，凱撒的物當歸給凱撒，神的物當歸給神。」

Et audientes mirati sunt, et relicto eo abicrunt.
And hearing it, they marvelled, and leaving him, they went away.
他們聽見就希奇，離開他走了。
