136:1
MATTU. XXII, 41-46; Luc. xx, 40-44. Ait illis: Quomodo (ergo) David in libro Psalmorum vocat eum Dominum, dicens: Dixit Dominus Domino meo: Sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum (Psal. CIX, 1) ?
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, saying: 'What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?' They said to him: 'David's.' He said to them: 'How then does David in the book of Psalms call him Lord, saying: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool (Ps. 109:1)? If then David in the Spirit calls him Lord, how is he his son?' And no one could answer him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day to question him any more.
