149:1
JOAN. XII, 42-50. Sermo quem locutus sum, ille judicabit eum in novissimo die:
JOHN XII, 42-50. Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they be put out of the synagogue. For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God. But Jesus cried out and said: 'He who believes in me does not believe in me, but in him who sent me. And he who sees me sees him who sent me. I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me may not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who despises me and does not receive my words has one who judges him; the word that I have spoken, that shall judge him at the last day:'
149:2
quia ego ex me ipso non sum loculus, sed qui misit me Pater, ipse mihi mandotum dedit, quid dicam, * aut quid loquar.
'For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent me, he himself gave me a commandment what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life eternal. The things therefore that I speak, as the Father said to me, so I speak.' — JOHN XII, 36-41. These things Jesus spoke to them, and he went away and hid himself from them. But although he had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in him, so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: 'Lord, who has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed (Isa. 53:1)?' These things Isaiah said when he saw his glory, and he spoke of him.
