37:1
MATTH. v, 38-42; Luc. VI, 29-30.
(Matt. 5:38-42; Luke 6:29-30) You have heard that it hath been said: 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth' (Exod. 21:24; Lev. 24:20; Deut. 19:21). But I say to you not to resist evil; but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other. And to him that will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him. And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two. Give to him that asketh of thee; and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away. And of him that taketh away what is thine, ask not again. (Luke 6:31) And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.
