MATTH. xv, 21-28; MARC. VII, 2430. Et inde surgens, abiit in fines Tyri et Sidonis. Et ecce mulier Chananæa gentilis, Syrophoenissa genere, clamavit dicens: Miserere mei, Domine, fili David: filia mea male a daemonio vexatur. Jesus autem non respondit ei verbum. Et accedentes ad cum discipuli ejus rogabant eum, dicentes: Dimitte eam, quia clamat post nos. Ipse autem respondens ait: Non sum missus, nisi ad oves quae perierunt domus Israel. At illa venit, et adoravit eum, dicens: Domine,adjuva me. Qui dixit illi: Sine prius saturari filios: non est enim bonum sumere panem filiorum et mittere ca nibus. At illa dixit: Etiam, Domine:

And behold, a Canaanite woman, a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth, cried out, saying: Have mercy on me, O Lord, Thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously troubled by a devil. But Jesus answered her not a word. And His disciples coming besought Him, saying: Send her away, for she crieth after us. But He answering said: I was not sent but to the sheep that are lost of the house of Israel. But she came and adored Him, saying: Lord, help me. And He said to her: Suffer first the children to be filled; for it is not good to take the bread of the children and to cast it to the dogs. But she said: Yea, Lord;

nam et catelli edunt de micis quae cadunt de mensa dominorum suorum. Tunc respondens Jesus, ait illi: 0 mulier, magna est fides tua: fiat tibi sicut vis. Et sanata est filia illius ex illa hora.
for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters. Then Jesus answering said to her: O woman, great is thy faith; be it done to thee as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that hour.
