(Matt. 26:17-24; Mark 14:12-21; Luke 22:7-23) And on the first day of the unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the pasch? But Jesus said: Go ye into the city to a certain man; and as you go in, there shall meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water: follow him into the house where he entereth, and you shall say to the goodman of the house: The Master saith: My time is near at hand; with thee I make the pasch with my disciples. And he will show you a large dining-room furnished; and there prepare for us. And his disciples went their way, and came into the city, and found as he had told them, and they prepared the pasch. But when it was evening, he came and sat down with his twelve disciples. And whilst they were eating, he said:
With desire I have desired to eat this pasch with you before I suffer. For I say to you, that from this time I will not eat it, till it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. (John 13:21-32) When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit; and he testified, and said: Amen, amen I say to you, one of you shall betray me. But they began to be sorrowful, and to say one by one: Is it I, Lord? Who said to them: He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, he shall betray me. The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed! It were better for him if that man had not been born. And the disciples looked one upon another, doubting of whom he spoke.
And they began to inquire among themselves which of them it was that should do this thing. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him: Who is it of whom he speaketh? He therefore leaning on the breast of Jesus, saith to him: Lord, who is it? Jesus answered: He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped. And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: That which thou dost, do quickly. Now no man at the table knew to what purpose he said this unto him. For some thought, because Judas had the purse, that Jesus had said to him: Buy those things which we have need of for the festival day; or that he should give something to the poor.
Then Judas, who betrayed him, answering said: Is it I, Rabbi? He saith to him: Thou hast said it. He then having received the morsel went out immediately. And it was night. When he therefore was gone out, Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God be glorified in him, God also will glorify him in himself, and immediately will he glorify him.
