Respondens autem Jesus dixit ei: Sine modo, sicenim decet nosadimplereomnemjustitiam. Tunc dimisit eum. — Luc. III, 21, 22. Factum est autem cum baptizaretur omnis populus, et Jesu baptizato et orante, confestim ascendit de aqua:: et ecce aperti sunt ei cœli, et vidit Spiritum Dei descendentem corporali specie sicut columbam, et venientem super se. Et ecce vox de coelis dicens:
Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11. Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan, unto John, to be baptized by him. — Luke 3:23. And Jesus himself was beginning about the age of thirty years, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph. But John stayed him, saying: I ought to be baptized by thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said to him: Suffer it to be so now; for so it becometh us to fulfil all justice. Then he suffered him. — Luke 3:21-22. Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, and Jesus being baptized and praying, that forthwith he came up out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending in a bodily shape as a dove, and coming upon him. And behold a voice from heaven, saying:

Et testimonium perhibuit Joannes, dicens: Quia 4 vidistis Spiritum 4escendenlem quasi columbam de cœlo, et mansit super eum; et ego nesciebam eum; sed qui misit me baptizare in aqua, ille mihi dixit: Super quem videritis Spiritum descendentem, et manentem super eum, hic est qui baptizat in Spiritu sancto. Ego vidi, et testimonium perhibui quia hic est Filius Dei.
Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. — John 1:32-34. And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him; and I knew him not, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit. And I saw, and I gave testimony that this is the Son of God.
