MATTH. v, 33-37. Audistis quia dictum est antiquis: Non pejerabis: reddes autem Domino juramenta tua (Exod. XX, 7; Levit. XIX, 12; Deut. V, 11). Ego autem dico vobis: Non jurare omnino, neque per coelum, quia thronus Dei esi, neque per terram, quia scabellum est pedum ejus; neque per Hierosolymam, quia civitas est magni regis (Psal. XLVII, 3); neque per caput tuum juraveris, quia non potes unum capillum album facerc aut nigrum. Sit autem sermo vester: est, est; non, non: quod autem his abundantius est, a malo est.
（太5:33-37）你們又聽見有吩咐古人的話說：「不可背誓，所起的誓總要向主謹守」（出20:7；利19:12；申5:11）。只是我告訴你們，甚麼誓都不可起，不可指著天起誓，因為天是神的座位；不可指著地起誓，因為地是他的腳凳；不可指著耶路撒冷起誓，因為這是大君的京城（詩48:2）；又不可指著你的頭起誓，因為你不能使一根頭髮變黑變白。你們的話，是，就說是；不是，就說不是；若再多說，就是出於那惡者。
(Matt. 5:33-37) Again you have heard that it was said to them of old: 'Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord' (Exod. 20:7; Lev. 19:12; Deut. 5:11). But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king (Ps. 47:3); neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your speech be: 'Yea, yea; No, no'; and that which is over and above these, is of evil.
