39:1
MATTH. VI, 1-4. Attendite ne justitiam vestram faciatis coram hominibus, ut videainini ab eis: alioqui mercedem non habebitis apud Patrem vestrum, qui in cœlis est. Cum ergo facis eleemosynam, noli tuba canere ante te, sicut hypocritæ faci jnt in synagogis et in vicis, ut honorificentur ab hominibus. Amen dico vobis, receperunt mercedem suam. Ta autem faciente eleemosynam, neseiat sinistra tua quid faciat dextera tua, utsit eleemosyna tua in absconso: et Pater tuus, qui videt in absconso, reddet libi.
（太6:1-4）你們要小心，不可將善事行在人的面前，故意叫他們看見；若是這樣，就不能得你們天父的賞賜了。所以你施捨的時候，不可在你前面吹號，像那假冒為善的人在會堂裡和街道上所行的，故意要得人的榮耀。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。你施捨的時候，不要叫左手知道右手所做的，要叫你施捨的事行在暗中；你父在暗中察看，必報答你。
(Matt. 6:1-4) Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them; otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven. Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth, that thy alms may be in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
