MATTII. VI, 16-18. Cum jejunatis, nolite fieri sicut hypocritæ, tristes: exterminanL enim facies suas, ut appareant hominibus jejunantes. Amen dico vobis, quia receperunt mercedem suam. Tu autem cum jcjunas, unge caput tuum, et faciem tuam lava, ne videaris hominibus jejunans, sed Patri tuo qui est in absconso; et Pater tuus, qui videt in absconso, reddet tibi.—Luc. XII, 32-33. Nolite timerc, pusillus grex, quia complacuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum. Vendiie quae possidetis, et date eleemosynam. Facite vobis sacculos qui non veterascunt, thesaurum non deficientem in coelis.
（太6:16-18）你們禁食的時候，不可像那假冒為善的人，臉上帶著愁容；因為他們把臉弄得難看，故意叫人看出他們是禁食。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。你禁食的時候，要梳頭洗臉，不叫人看出你禁食來，只叫你暗中的父看見；你父在暗中察看，必報答你。（路12:32-33）你們這小群，不要懼怕，因為你們的父樂意把國賜給你們。你們要變賣所有的賙濟人，為自己預備永不壞的錢囊，用不盡的財寶在天上。
(Matt. 6:16-18) And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face, that thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee. (Luke 12:32-33) Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom. Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven that faileth not.
