He proposed to them another parable, saying: 'The kingdom of heaven is become like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while men were sleeping, his enemy came and oversowed tares in the midst of the wheat, and went away. And when the blade had sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared also the tares. And the servants of the householder, coming, said to him: Lord, did you not sow good seed in your field? Whence then has it tares? And he said to them: An enemy has done this. And the servants said to him: Will you that we go and gather them up? But he said: No, lest perhaps in gathering up the tares you root up the wheat also together with them.
'Let both grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn; but gather the wheat into my barn.'
