MATTH. XI, 20 - 24; LUC. x, 12 - 15. Tunc cœpit exprobrare civitatibus in quibus factae sunt plurimae virtutes ejus, quia non egissent poenitentiam. Væ tibi Corazin a, vae tibi Bethsaida! quia si in Tyro et Sidone factae fuissent virtutes quae factæ sunt in vobis, olim in cilicio et cinere poenitentiam egissent. Verumtamen dico vobis: Tyro et Sidoni remissius erit in die judicii, quam vobis. Et tu Capharnaum, nunquid usque in coelum exaltaberis? usque in infernum descendes: quia si in Sodomis factae fuissent virtutes quae factae sunt in te, forte mansissent usque in hunc diem. Verumtamen dico vobis quia terræ Sodomorum remissius erit in die judicii quam tibi.
耶穌在諸城中行了許多異能，那些城的人終不悔改，祂就在那時責備他們，說：「哥拉汛哪，你有禍了！伯賽大啊，你有禍了！因為在你們中間所行的異能，若行在推羅、西頓，他們早已披麻蒙灰悔改了。但我告訴你們，當審判的日子，推羅、西頓所受的，比你們還容易受呢。迦百農啊，你已經升到天上嗎？將來必墜落陰間；因為在你那裡所行的異能，若行在所多瑪，它還可以存到今日。但我告訴你們，當審判的日子，所多瑪所受的，比你還容易受呢。」
Then He began to upbraid the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they had not done penance: 'Woe to thee, Chorazin! Woe to thee, Bethsaida! For if in Tyre and Sidon the mighty works had been done that have been done in you, they would long ago have done penance in sackcloth and ashes. But yet I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? Thou shalt go down even to hell; for if in Sodom the mighty works had been done that have been done in thee, perhaps it would have remained unto this day. But yet I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for thee.'
