MATTH. VIII, 5-13; LUC. VII, 1-10. Cum autem in troisset Capharnaum, accessit ad eum centurio, ro gans eum, et dicens: Domine, puer meus jacet in domo paralyticus, et male torquetur. Et ait illi Jesus: Ego veniam, et curabo eum. Et respondens centurio ait: Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum, sed tantum die verbo, et sanabitur puer meus. Nam et ego homo sum sub potestate a habens sub me milites, et dico huic: Vade, et vadit; et alii: Veni, et venit; et servo meo: Fac hoc, et facit. Audiens autem Jesus miratus est, et sequentibus se dixit: Amen, dico vobis, non inveni tantam fidem in Israel.
馬太福音八章5至13節；路加福音七章1至10節。耶穌進了迦百農，有一個百夫長進前來，求他說：主啊，我的僕人癱瘓了，躺在家裡，甚是疼苦。耶穌說：我去醫治他。百夫長回答說：主啊，你到我舍下，我不敢當，只要你說一句話，我的僕人就必好了。因為我在人的權下，也有兵在我以下；對這個說「去」，他就去；對那個說「來」，他就來；對我的僕人說「你做這事」，他就去做。耶穌聽見就希奇，對跟從的人說：我實在告訴你們，這麼大的信心，就是在以色列中，我也沒有遇見過。
Matthew 8:5-13; Luke 7:1-10. And when he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him and saying: Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed and is grievously tormented. And Jesus said to him: I will come and heal him. And the centurion answered and said: Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it. And when Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed him: Truly I say to you, I have not found so great a faith in Israel.

Dico autem vobis, quod multi ab Oriente et Occidente venient, et recumbent cum Abraham, et lsaac a, ct Jacob in regno coelorum: filii autem regni ejicientur in tenebras exteriores: ibi eril fletus et stridor dentium. Et dixit Jesus centurioni: Vade, et sicut credidisti fiat tibi. Et sanatus est puer in illa hora. Et reversus est centurio in domum suam, et invenit sevum qui languerat sanum.
我又告訴你們，從東從西，將有許多人來，在天國裡與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各一同坐席；惟有本國的子民竟被趕到外邊黑暗裡去，在那裡必要哀哭切齒了。耶穌對百夫長說：你回去吧，照你的信心，給你成全了。那時，他的僕人就好了。百夫長回到家裡，看見那先前患病的僕人已經好了。
And I say to you that many shall come from the East and the West, and shall recline with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said to the centurion: Go, and as you have believed, so let it be done for you. And the servant was healed in that hour. And the centurion returned to his house, and found the servant who had been sick now well.
