Pervenit ad nos Florentium Epidauritanæ civitatis episcopum, praereptis prius rebus ejus, pro quibusdam non approbatis criminibus, sine sacerdotali concilio fuisse damnatum. Et quia non debet is poenam sustinere canonicim (Grat. ii, q. I, c. 64), in cujus damnatione non est canonica prolata sententia, praeeiphnus experientiæ tuae ut Natali fratri et coepiscopo nostro debeas imminere, quatenus supradictum virum de eodem ejici faciat, quo nuuc dicitur detrusus exsilio. a Convocatoque episcoporum concilio, si hac in quibus accusatus est canonice fueriut approbata, præsati Natalis fratris et coepiscopi nostri voiunius in eum proprium robur obtinere sententiam.
Gregory to Antoninus the subdeacon. It has come to us that Florentius, bishop of the city of Epidaurus, having first had his goods snatched away, was condemned for certain unproven crimes without a priestly council. And because he ought not to sustain canonical penalty in whose condemnation no canonical sentence has been pronounced, we command your Experience that you should press upon Natalis our brother and fellow bishop, so that he may cause the aforesaid man to be cast out from the exile into which he is now said to have been thrust. And a council of bishops being convened, if those things of which he is accused shall have been canonically approved, we wish the sentence of our aforesaid brother and fellow bishop Natalis to obtain its own force against him.

Sin autem generali fuerit judicio absolutus, nec eum deinceps cujuslibet prapjudicio subjacere permittas, et præfatae res districta tuae sollicitudinis restituantur instantia. Necesse est ergo ut quanto graviora talium negotiorum perpendis pondera, tanto ea maluriori vigilantiorique studeas exsecutione complere.
But if he shall have been absolved by general judgment, permit him not thereafter to be subject to the prejudice of anyone whatsoever, and let the aforesaid goods be restored by the strict diligence of your solicitude. It is necessary therefore that, the more you weigh the graver burdens of such affairs, the more you should be zealous to complete them with a maturer and more vigilant execution.
但若他經全體會議的審斷被開釋了，此後便不可容他受任何人成見的轄制，並要以你殷勤的嚴謹使上述財物得以歸還。故必須如此：你越是斟酌這類事務更為沉重的分量，就越當熱心以更成熟、更警醒的執行來完成它們。
