Gregory to Maurilio, former prefect. We greatly marvel that, though various persons come from Sicily, your Glory delays to relieve us with news of your safety. And whether it ought to be ascribed to forgetfulness of charity or to your occupations, we do not know. And therefore, greeting you with the affection of fatherly charity, we ask that, whenever occasion for writing offers itself, you would refresh us concerning your welfare and how matters go with you, so that, while according to our desire we are made glad about your prosperity, we may be able to give thanks for you to our Redeemer. May Almighty God guard you with the grace of his mercy, and keep and preserve you unharmed from all adversity.
