729:1
Gregorius Adriano notario.
Gregory to Adrian the notary. It has come to us that you have prosecuted certain enchanters and casters of lots. Know that your care and zeal have been altogether pleasing to us; but we were grieved to learn that you had doubts whether, contrary to your own tried experience, we could have been misled by them, since you ought to have been certain and to have known that this counts rather to your commendation with us, and is not reckoned as a fault. And therefore let it be your earnest endeavour to seek diligently, and whatever enemies of Christ of this kind you find, to correct them with such strict retribution that both we may form a better judgment of your proven worth, and you may be able to commend yourself to our God, which is what one must above all strive after.
